baby please please please don't try this yourself. there are straighteners and relaxers. first figure out what you want...then go to a reliable salon and get it done. you do not want your hair to be a frizzball, fall out, dry out or break off. if you get it straightened by a professional it will take about 5-6 hrs depending on length and density. it will cost around 500 dollars but you will only have to get it done once or twice a year. as far a the ponytail, get it wet thing its only for 2 days. then you can get out of the shower and have perfectly straight hair without touching it. my favorite is the yuko system. its big in cali and ny area. if not the chi makes a wonderful one too. one more thing none of these methods if done by a trained professional will ruin your hair. the damage people do in a years time with a flat iron/blow dryer is far worse.

Please remember that this is permantent! I have naturally curly hair too and when I found out that the salon I get my hair done at offered this I was ready to sign up. But after talking with my stylist I realized that that wasn't what I wanted, because it is PERMANENT! I would only be able to wear my hair straight. Also, it costs a lot of money (at least a couple hundred), takes a lot of time (like 6-8 hours one day and about 4 hours another), you can't wash your hair, get it wet, put it in a ponytail/bun/barette, or even behind your ears for a couple of day or you will put kinks in your hair or make it frizzy, which would make you have to basically repeat the process.
But if you really, really, really want to have permanently straight hair then this is the way to go. Just weight the pros and cons.
Good luck!

Hey!
well I also have naturally curly hair, but there is no way to make you hair permanently straight.

Theres 2 things I can suggest

1. Relaxer
2. Buying shampoos that prepare your hair for straight hair styles.

I relax my hair its a chemical way to make it straight for a few months and then you will have to reply to your rooth when your hair growns back on the top. It works pretty good, but you will have to take care of your hair a lot more. giving it vatimns and hair treatment.

Best of Luck Girly :)

I have naturally curly hair too. Now I know their are relaxers that supposedly permanently straighten your hair but those I do not recommend. They are very harsh chemicals that harm your hair and cause severe breakage. Now for my hair I use a blow dryer & flatiron to straighten it. Use a real good product line like Loreal Professional their line for smooth straight hair from shampooing to styling. Then purchase good tools like the CHI brand blow dryer & flat iron. Still you have to watch out for breakage but it occurs overtime so make sure to still wear your hair curly at times giving it a break every now and again. Also since I have been straightening my hair for over a year or so my hair actually has lost alot of its curly and isn't as frizzy. Good Luck

Well i dont know where you live but theres this permanent straightening thing called Bio-Ionic permanent hair straightening.
its abit expensive but i guess its worth it if you really want permanent straight hair. but naturally curly hair is the best kind of hair to have because you can straighten and curl it and so whatever you want to it. i think you should keep your locks and get a really good straightener. I use Chi by Farouk its excellent. If youre really serious about the permanent hair straightening then heres the site....

You wont be able to PERMANENTLY solve this problem. You can go and buy an at home perm and instead of putting the curlers in to make it curly comb it straight with the perm solution and WALLA... you have straight hair. BUT, once your hair starts growing out, youll need to touch up your roots. Good luck

many salons do hair straightening, but your hair is never fully perfectly straight... However you can try Chinese hair straightening, (i don't know if they have them by you, but look on-line for any salons in your area that do this) my freind had it done. it's very expensive but it works 150%. she had very curly hair, got it done and it's pin straight now, all the time even when it's humid out. she did however pay $500.

dont put relaxers in your hair as time goes by it will thin..just stick with good flat irons..if it is soft get wraps and it will stay straight eventually...i have curly hair and a wrap does the trick with out flat ironing it

Have you tried a straightener from your hairstylist?

Don't do it yourself unless you know what you're doing. You could really damage your hair.
