Sorry not sure what category this should be in...
but...
I am wanting to be Scarlet O'Hara for Halloween... I think I am going to make the green dress that she made out of the curtains to go see Rhett... Does anyone know what all I'll need to make it look as authentic as I can? pettycoat, or those butt bumper things? or anything else? I'm not sure what all they used to wear back then to make the dresses look the way they did... HELP!!

I walk past beautifully colored shirts, ties, ladies dresses and skirts, tops, etc. in store displays and on store racks but it seems like everyone dresses in beige, white , tan, khaki, wheat, etc. When I was in Europe a couple years back, I noticed many men wore very pretty tie/shirt combinations (purple, pink, peach, periwinkle, etc) and the woman put alot into accessories whereas here in the US everyone seems to just throw anything on and go around colorless and drab. I find it depressing. Wouldn't the worry be a prettier place if people dressed better?

I'm not able to wear my contacts for now since I have some type of allergy :( I hate wearing my glasses (thought it made me look funny), but I seem to get a lot of attention when I am out with them. Why is that?

It can be either online shops or highstreet shops.

better than most of the men who wear their ugly cargo shorts and t shirts. He looks downright hot in it! Do I have a problem or is is justified in this world of sloppy men? The guy that I date on occasion always wears ugly shorts and tee shirts, he's got compotition now, huh?

The black socks sold in stores aren't good for my feet, since they're usually made of polyester which ends up making my feet sweaty. Can I dye my white cotton socks with something to make them look black? Does anyone have experience doing this?

I'm volunteering at an event....based on these instructions, should I wear a floor length evening gown or a shorter, more casual dress????

Time: 5:30 pm-9:30 pm.

Dress Code: This is a formal event, so volunteers must dress up. That means gentlemen in suits and ladies in evening wear.

Ive just started college and the dress code is smart. Im also really stuck for hat sort of things to wear as im not stick thin like the other girls. Im just an average size but im unsure what smart clothes are flattering for a pear shaped body.

I'm going to a evening fundraiser (6:30). Tickets were $100 each; the event is a cocktail-type party at a gentleman's home. I was told it is a "formal" event and that men should wear suits (not tuxes!) and ladies should wear "evening wear."

Do I wear a floor-length black dress (fairly simple, no sequins) or a knee-length dress (black with purple flowers and a full skirt).

To me, "formal" means a floor length dress. But, if men are only supposed to wear suits (not tuxes), would that be too dressy? Should I stick with the shorter dress?

Retro, Classic, Trendy, or Other (if so, specify)?

I like things that are timeless that will never go out of style, such as argyle.
