Do you see any point to a powder (mineral) "primer"?

I always thought makeup primers were supposed to be gel or cream-based, but recently bought some mineral makeup where they were selling a powder primer to apply before the makeup. Does that make any sense to you? I can see how a powder primer would absorb a little more oil underneath the minerals, but let's be real -- a primer is supposed to:

a) prep the skin for makeup
b) keep makeup from sinking into pores throughout the day / keep it from fading

How in the world is a "primer" in powder form supposed to do those things? The idea of a powder primer is nice in theory, as it would be less likely to clog pores (I have acne-prone skin), but doesn't seem realistic/effective. Anyway, I'm not looking for product recommendations (though if you have a rave-worthy product, feel free to share!), I'm mostly just curious what people think of this.

I want to showcase the tattoo between my shoulderblades and am wearing a halter top, so I want to wear my hair up. Ponytails are too casual, but everything else seems so...overdone! Does wearing mascara for several years make your eye lashes thin in time? I've noticed mine are not as thick as they were. I'm only 19 and have only been wearing mascara for a few years. I'm just wondering why my eye lashes seem just a little thinner than they were.

I don't do formal exercise beyond walking. I spend my day chasing after my young children, run errands, and the like. I need a lightweight, comfortable shoe that comes in a narrow width (I wear a AA), offers adequate support and stability, and looks good with jeans. I'm only 30, so I want something that looks fairly young and hip. :-) I've looked at New Balance shoes but haven't a clue whether I need a cross-trainer, a walking shoe, or what. Help!

she has pasty white skin and blond hair. i can tell she has zits when she wears more cover up. then the mascara is put on to make her eylashes from a light brown to a black clump. eyeliner is black and she's bloned. and looks as if she never takes it off and just adds. her make up bugs me BIG TIME and i don't know how to tell her.

I don't know what it is, but I never feel like my eyelashes are "groomed" or "polished." I curl them, and they may seem to look "combed" or whatever, but then within a couple of hours they seem all in disarray, pointing in all directions! And drooping from the curl. In fact, sometimes the curling process itself seems to do this! lol.

I use a Shiseido curler (I tried Shu Uemura and didn't like it) and I am very careful. I've tried cleaer mascara (both Covergirl and E.L.F. brands). Am I doing something wrong? Do you know any special tricks?
