Where can I can a really nice dress for my prom. I will be 16 and I am a size 10 on top 12 on bottom (UK sizes and yes I know not the thinnest of girls my age). I need something not over £300. Anyone know and it has to be in the UK! Light Blue would be great!

Firstly sweetie, you sound a perfect size!! when you become more of a 'woman' you'll appreciate it!!!

Secondly, get your tiny bum down to a decent shopping centre (trafford centre is great) or monsoon & debenhams in the new year when all the sales are on!!!! You'll get a bargain and will have enough left for some fabulous shoes a glitzy bag and some bling!

Another thng you could do is find the email/telephone number for the nearest uni to you and find the fashion department, some of the students there are so keen to get their hands on designing something like a prom dress, (adds to their portfolio) dont worry by the time they get to uni they know what they are doing! Plus you'll have a one off unique dress and it will be tailor made to your taste and body! yay!

Firstly, can I just say how times have changed. When I was 16 (lets say at least 15 years ago) a size 10 -12 was thought to be a near perfect size. Now everyone wants to be a 6 - 8.

Anyhoo, onto the question. Try Monsoon. They have some really different dresses. They are a bit pricey but you can definitely get something nice for £300 or less.

There you go. Try the monsoon web site:

Debenhams is really good for prom dresses i got mine there, but i bought it way before everyone else because the trouble is many people may buy their stuff there, if you buy now for a June/July prom it would be ideal. And btw I am size 12(age 16 as well) and get viciously called 'too thin' half the time, so please don't think that 12 is 'big' as you seem to.

I bought a really nice prom dress from a bridal gown shop and it had been hired before so I bought it for £30. It was absolutly gorgeous, but red! Ebay is a good option! I wouldn't spend over £100 for one night!!! Have a fantasitc time.
