My assignment this week, is to take pictures of objects in motion. It has to be CONSTANT. We are expiramenting with aperature and shutter speed, so the first five pictures have to be the same object, five times (using a different aperature..etc.)
The backround has to be the same, speed of the object in motion, etc.

Requirements of the picture:
-consistant
-outside
-the object moves from left to right, not away or towards you.

Some ideas i came up with are the following:
-someone riding a bike, skateboard, rollerblades, or running.
These all fit the requirements: consistancy, out doors, and left to right.
(I can have the runner go back, and run again.)
I thought of taking pictures of my dog running outside, but that won't always be consistant. She may run in a different direction, or different speed.

With that, what other things can I photograph??
(I don't have a car, and it's hard to get a ride, so it isn't ideal to go places. Just, outside my neighborhood.)

I am living right now in a very poor and primitive country in Asia and being not look like a foreigner, I am afraid of taking my precious digital camera and taking photos. When I have done that in the past, some people ran after me asking for taking them a photo. Others have asked me, why do you take photo and where will you publish them. I mean it is a little difficult to take professional photos when you walk alone in a poor country with your costly SLR camera.

I have a Canon 400D and I am currently shooting in P Mode.
Although, I'd like to get more versatile with the camera and start shooting in Manual.
Basically, I just need to know what the settings need to be at when I'm shooting during the day when it's sunny, and during the evening.
ISO, Aperture, etc.

Thank you all in advance!!

The wedding was 11 years ago, photos were taken with film, received proofs of all photos. I now want to order more than the original package I had bought but the photographer is deceased and his studio closed. No one, as far as I know, has bought his inventory or his studio. I would like to get more pictures printed from the proofs but it wouldn't work when I took the proofs to Walgreens to scan and print. The guy at the photo counter was no help and I don't know what to do now. Thanks for any input.

I'd like to upgrade to DSLR, but after buying a body (D80) I will only have about $250 to spend on a lens. I've read lots of reviews on the cheaper models and they all seem to have lots of negatives, be it slowness, distortion, fringing, CA or softness. So I'm wondering if the cheap SLR lenses are just crap compared to good SLR lenses or if they are crap compared to point and shoot lenses as well.

Also, what would be the cheapest Nikon (Nikkor, Tarmon, Sigma...) lens is that will outperform the best point and shoot lenses like Sony's Carl Zeiss and Panasonic's Leica.

A friend of mine asked me to take a few pics of him playing football but I usually stick with landscape/nature photography so I'm not sure what film I should use or speed for my lens (I have a Nikon N75 and the AF 28-200mm f/3.5-5.6 lens).
Any advice is greatly appreciated!

For those of you that shoot Models, what do you do about their escorts??

Generally, I have no problem with escorts for safety, or even to assist the model in between sets for clothing/makeup touchups, etc..., but recently, I have had to ban "romantic" interests from shoots totally, and even require escorts to stay out of eyesight of the shoot. It just seems to be harder to get models to focus on the work, and stop socializing with there escort.

Hubby's/boyfriends have become a real nightmare too (even in casual clothing shoots), attempting to get involved in directing the shoot, and models looking to them all the time for approval. I recently cancelled 2 shoots after starting because of the interference.

Is it like this for everyone??

I know photography has alot of rules and whatnot, but what if I do not wish to follow any of them and just photograph with my own rules and techniques? Would I not be considered a photographer? would my pictures not be considered art? I am taking a photography class and theres rules that "should be followed", but while in class, I always say to myself, i dont want to do that or this. Any advice?

Like they're black and white photographs, but they have a coloured object somewhere in the photograph as well...for example, like this:

http://photobucket.com/mediadetail/?media=http%3A%2F%2Fi203.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Faa3%2FAsagi_McGuire%2FRed%2520Colour%2520In%2520Black%2520n%2520White%2520Photos%2FBalcknWhitenRedPhotographyWallpa-15.jpg&searchTerm=black%20and%20white%20photos%20with%20colour&pageOffset=15

http://photobucket.com/mediadetail/?media=http%3A%2F%2Fi203.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Faa3%2FAsagi_McGuire%2FRed%2520Colour%2520In%2520Black%2520n%2520White%2520Photos%2FBalcknWhitenRedPhotographyWallpa-17.jpg&searchTerm=black%20and%20white%20photos%20with%20colour&pageOffset=17

How do you make just part of the picture coloured?

Do you cut out (for example, like in Picture 1) just the ladybug from the original coloured photo and then add it to the now black and white photo with a new layer?

This photograph is one of two little kids,a boy and girl, taken from behind, they are walking from a garden arbour into the sunlight. They are nearly in silouette. Their clothing suggests 1940s or early 50s. If I remember the story properly, their father was a fairly famous World War II photographer. It may have been published in Life Magazine, but I am not sure about that. This photograph was his most requested photo. In his interview the photographer laughed about how he won awards for his war photos, but the people wanted the one of his children. I am not sure, but they MIGHT have been English. Does any one know what I am talking about? I used to see it a lot when I was a kid, but I haven't seen it in years. I want to use it in a presentation, but can't find a copy of it.

I'll be getting the Nikon D40x tomorrow, and as a first time DSLR user, I want the cheerdance competition of my sister to be my first "project". As much as possible I want to have good photographs.

I wonder, since cheerdances are mostly girls moving consistently (dancing), will the D40x capture objects/people in motion accurately without problems? Are there any settings I need to adjust in the camera?

Any advice would help!:)
