I know from one of the other members that lenses are the most important thing in an SLR, but I was wondering which SLR would be good for a beginner photographer, I'm not a complete beginner, I have taken classes and such, so I do know what I'm doing witha camera, so it doesnt need to be basic.

I hope that made sense, thanks!

HELP ME! I have a huge event that is outdoors and I just found out I will not have any electricity to run my lighting. I know I could probably just get some reflectors or just pray for a slightly overcast day, but I would just feel more comfortable using my lighting. This is a HUGE event where I could stand to make a lot of money, but I don't want risk using something I'm used to.

So, I'm wondering if anyone can suggest a portable power source I could use to run my hot lights while I'm on location for about 8 hours, maybe 6 hours.

I really appreciate your help!

Hi ... I would like to enter the world of photography and am considering learning the basics on a 35 mm SLR and doing a begineers course. I'm looking at buying a 2nd hand one and maybe buying lenses I can use when I also eventually find the money to upgrade to a good digital.

Can anyone recommend a good 35mm SLR for a begineer that I can learn the basics on and that will last me for a bit as I develop my skills. I'm not bad with good automatic digital camera , but want to learn how to take better shots. (advice on lenses apreciated too) Price between 50 pounds - 250 ish body only

There are many ways to edit the tonal range of a black and white photo in photoshop. These methods include channel mixer, double hue/saturation, and duotone methods. What methods do you use and why do you use that method. Which method produces the best results?

A simple "use the saturation slider" or "use the desaturate command" will not work for this question. I am looking for very advanced methods that will help increase the quallity of my work.

Is there a way to make fast money (like a couple hundred or so) over a couple of weeks with a good camera and good equipment?

If not in the hundred how much?

I'm about 30 min from a big Metro city and my town isn't small either.

This is professional grade stuff; Canon EOS30D, Softbox, Lighting, Backdrops and reflectors.

I would like to dispose of my old camera lenses. They were good in their day, but now the demand for metal and glass screw thread lenses has gone, but they just seem too nice to just throw in the bin. Even charity shops say they don't want them. A camera shop will take them if I make a big purchase but I don't need a cameral now. Some of the leading brands such as Leica of course have historical value, but my old M42 and Konical lenses are technically worthless. I just cannot bear to just add them to the crusher. I would have thought that they would have a use somewhere, but I need to know where to send them.
