What camera model is it? Also, take note of the serial number. Try calling or contacting Nikon USA in Melville, NY. They can give you a good lead on how to determine when it was made (year and possibly month).

Or, check here and compare:

That's almost impossible. You'll only ever get a guesstimated age as models were produced over a span of time and rarely ever limited to a month or a year.

Now, I've heard of companies that, for a price, can search the serial number and get you information based off of that. But I've never came across one.

I *could* be that old. To try to identify your camera, check this website : http://www.mir.com.my/rb/photography/companies/nikon/htmls/models/htmls/slrmain5979.htm
**Edit: oops I didn't notice kehkohjones already gave a link from the same site. It must be good then :)

I managed to identify mine who's got the old "Nikkormat" name! Older than me!! My photography teacher went weak in the knee when I showed him my camera. He said "Oh... May I ?... It's live driving an old Berline...". Good luck ! :)
