When I go on holiday, what sort of camera should I take?

A disposable camera?

A digital camera?

My camera?

I have access to all three, although the digital camera is not mine and I don't have the programmes to download photos onto my computer, so would have to get someone to possibly e-mail them to me.

I am in the progress of using both a disposable 35mm camera, and a regular camera. There's no way that I will finish the films before my holiday. But do I need to take both?

Suggestions, the pros and cons of taking one over the other, would be very much appreciated.

I have a photoshop project in which I need to create a self-portrait. It doesn't have to actually use a picture of myself, but it should be something that tells people about me or something. Does anyone have ideas? I was thinking maybe something like showing a mirror, but it would have a different reflection or something, but I'd also like some other ideas. Since you don't know me, the things I want to incorporate are mystery, darkness, light, and wonder.

Is using different white balance settings on a dSLR similar to using different filters on a film SLR? for example, would using the flourescent WB setting be the same as using a flourescent filter on a SLR?

I'm looking for a fast pentax lens to use for portraits. I have an *ist dl with only the kit lens right now. I've seen many 50/1.4 lenses on ebay for a reasonable price, but I'm new to digital photography and am somewhat confused by the focal lengths. Will the 50mm actually be a 75mm on my *ist? Does the FA 50/1.4 that pentax makes for digital cameras have a focal length of 50mm and is it the same focal length as the older 50/1.4 with the M42 screw mount?

may be the problem. The instructions in the dark room was to add 2oz of devloper and 8 oz of water per roll of film. Being I alreayd mixed it in a gallon does that mean I diluted it too much. The film is still somewhat purple.

Does anyone know a good school to go to if you're interested in photography, but not so good at other kinds of art? I'm looking for one particularly in the St Louis area, or at least in the Midwest, but anywhere will do really. I'd just like some advice on somewhere with a good photo program that isn't obscenely hard to get into.

I am having difficulty picking a lens, I would like to know if anyone owns one or both of these can tell me which they prefer. I am looking at the:
Canon EF 24-105mm f/4 L IS USM Lens for Canon EOS SLR Cameras
or
Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8L USM Standard Zoom Lens for Canon SLR Cameras

I am trying to weigh apature against zoom.

I've noticed that on some avatars (or any picture really) people have photos that 'change' every few seconds.

It then 'cycles' around to the beginning picture again. Most people have ones that change photo every second or two, some others have a main picture, and one that flashes for a split second.

Some people even have cartoon strips which change every second in order to tell a story.

It seems much more common than to be for just super-tech peeps, so how can I create my own? Can anyone tell more about this process?

Thanks in advance :-)

First of all, please only reply if you have an understanding and solid recommendation - many times I post questions and get useless answers! (i.e. up to you, maybe, who knows!)

Background: I am a 'serious amateur'! Most of my pictures are scenery, landscapes, buildings, construction sites, sunsets, and events.

1) Would you recommend buying Body only or camera with 18-55mm lens?

2) I would like to have Zoom capabilities and Wide Angle - can this effectively be purchased in one lens? i.e. 18-200mm

3) Would you recommend Tamron or other lenses over Canon? I see they have a 18-200mm that is a wide - zoom. Or would it be better to purchase a Canon Wide AND Canon Telephoto?

Just trying to find the best solution to minimize costs and get the most bang for my buck with quality equipment. I would rather have 2 lenses than 3 at this point.

Any recommendation, suggestions, or resources to check out would be GREATLY appreciated!

Thank you!
