I have a photoshop project in which I need to create a self-portrait. It doesn't have to actually use a picture of myself, but it should be something that tells people about me or something. Does anyone have ideas? I was thinking maybe something like showing a mirror, but it would have a different reflection or something, but I'd also like some other ideas. Since you don't know me, the things I want to incorporate are mystery, darkness, light, and wonder.

Interesting project.

Maybe you could take a picture of yourself and delete the background. The dupe the layers maybe six times.

The top layer would be you, centered or at the bottom, the next layer down ctrl+t for transform and make it bigger just a little. Do this six times so you have "facets" of your self. The select the shape and "paste into" different things. The first could be nature, the second could be food, the third could be books .. that kind of thing.

Hope some brainstormng helps! AND, have fun!

How about creating a montage of things that are important to you in your life, then superimposing a reduced opacity self portrait over the whole image. This will result in a very'soft' effect, which if you wish to sharpen up could have further meaningful objects added over the self portrait.

what about taking images of things that are important to you. Like if you like to paint, take a picture of something you've painted or if you like to take photograph's scan in your images or the camera. It's art it doesn't have to be literal.
with Photoshop you can make images that really tell people who you are and what you do. Good luck.

HOw about yourself down a tunnel with the spotlight tool highlighting your head? That might look cool.
