I am curious how most small newspaper outlets work? Do they contract photographers? Do they purchase off stock image sites? Do they hire full time photographers?

I am looking for information on contract work and stock image sites.

I have had a few old cameras just for looks sitting on my shelves. I have been curious however if there is some that can give you a cool vintage look in print? Also is there anything I should know about high cost in film or hard to find films for old cameras. Last, is there any companies that specialize in developing vintage films?

I have an old tri-lens Wollensak 43 camera. I understand it takes 8mm film and was curious if this film is available. Also is there anywhere online to see what old 8mm video looked like online?

I want to take sharp shots in a gym which has low light. I bump up my ISO level to the highest (1600), I try and use the built in flash, and I try to get as close as I can to the action, and yet my pictures come out really poor like blurs, redish tint, low light areas, etc. I did try taking it all in RAW format but I do not have the time to edit all my pictures.

My question is, is Canons 28-55mm kit lens slower than normal lens (compared to other Canon f/3.5), and do I need to purchase lens with IS and a external flash unit. (I have a Canon Rebel XTi)

Want to know difference between ISO and shutter speed and maybe also some different lighting situations in where you would set them at different rates.

I'm developing a keen interest in photography and am looking for a good camera to start with. I'm reading a lot of great reviews for the new Canon eos digital rebel xt 8mp. Now that camera runs about $700-800 here in B.C. Is it silly to spend that kind of money or should I just stick to my Nikon Coolpix 2200 which I'm still not taking any great pictures with. I'm not going to be going into photography on any professional level but like I said I just really want to have a great camera. Pearls of wisdom are always appreciated!
Thanks!

It has been years since I've done manual photography, and I'm afraid I've forgotten all but a very little bit of it.

I would like a book that offers several things:

1. Chapters devoted to how to work with various things, like the F-stop, depth of field and flash, etc...

2. "Assignments" for each chapter

3. Preferably *not* a book designed to be used in a classroom, but rather something an individual can use on their own.

If you know of a book, please list it here, and if possible, a link to something like Amazon or Ebay or other seller that I could find it with a review. TIA.

I'm really into photography lately, but I'm running out of ideas on what to photograph. Anyone have any ideas? I'm open to anything that's around the house, outside, etc. Please don't suggest places to go or things like that because I can't drive yet (too young).

So, any ideas on what to photograph..and maybe cool editing effects to do on them? I love HDR and black and white. What would be cool to photograph in black in white? Thanks for all your suggestions.

I have a picture from a camera phone that is 8x6 inches or 640x480 px. The photo is kind of pixelated, you can only see the pixels around edges. I wanted to know how to smooth out the picture without distorting the size.
