Im a airbrush artist trying to look for a job in custom automotive painting. Im trying to find a internship or aprenticeship so that I can learn while on the job. Dont have enough money for school,(25,000$) and would have to relocate. Having trouble even finding local shops. Do you know of any websites that help you find this type of work, or offer any training? Any ideas on how to find this type of work would be helpful.Thanks.

Three days ago I asked for some suggestions about what I saw as a major problem getting the perception right on a painting I had done. There were many answers, ranging from changing the color schemes to the painting not falling into the ‘normal’ rules of painting. With this being a surrealistic work those suggestions were pretty much ignored. But to those of you who helped with the perspective problem I thank you greatly. I was too close to the work to see the obvious and you saw it for me. Again, I thank you.

The before:

The floor was tiled, the door was raised and the rear wall was lengthened to add depth of field. I also made the chairs and table larger to help the woman appear smaller.

Now, what can you find wrong with the painting?

I have very little experience with painting/drawing, but I'm very interested in it. What kind of supplies should I buy to get started with?

After applying an oil paint ground on my painting I let it dry in my studio for 2-3 weeks. The problem is that after this time some dust particles settle on the surface of the oil paint. I have tried putting the painting in a closet, doesn't work. I cannot put cloth on it since the oil gets smudged as it comes in contact with the material.

How do I protect a wet oil painting from dust without disturbing the oil paint on it?

I bought an old picture frame with a poster of kittens in it. i decided to replace the picture the other day and discovered a charcoal painting of an old man probably in the 1920's BEHIND the poster of the kitties. The back of the photo was dated 1920 but it wasnt signed. The only thing with a name was the poster of the kittens which was titled"I know you're in there" copyright 1987. kinda neat huh? Could this be worth anything?

I have a Paul Detlefsen painting titled "Horse And Buggy Days" it features a blacksmith working on an anvil in a red barn, a man paying attention to a white horse next to a black buggy, and a little boy with overalls and a straw hat standing with his hands behind his back and watching whats going on. I was just wondering about its date, how to find out wether it is a print or origianl, and possibly how much it is worth. Thank-You All.

Apologies for the image quality but this has been blown up from a photo of this picture which my mum used to have on her living room wall in the 1980's. There are trees, a rock on the left hand side and a stream or river running through the middle. The picture was lost years ago when we moved but I would love to get a print of it again for her so any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Just follow the link below to view it.

With regards to (house) paint and watercolours, are new colours being created everyday?

I know most (/all?) house paint companies have colour indices/indexes, but are they adding more colours to it? And is there a limit as to how many colours can be.... hm... created?

Who regulates the names of colours, anyway? Are there any international bodies, or are they subject to the companies that created them?

There is a painting that was at the Art Museum in Philadelphia months ago, its by Andrew Wyeth. It was during the Memories and Magic exhibition. It was a painting with Jack O Lanterns stacked upon each other. I want to get a print of it for a friend of mine.

Hi, it's on canvas and it depicts a humanoid character with long hair who's just bitten off the arm of a human who also has lost it's head and other arm. The monster-like character is about five times the size of it's victim. I think it may be depicting hell.

i am doing my dissertation about howard hodgkin, and although I know I need to be reading lots and lots, I want to get a kind of starting theme in my mind. any ideas? i dont want the essay to be purely descriptive/biographical. Maybe something to do with him not being as individual as people think, and belonging to some kind of movement?
