You need to be a little more specific with your question. What paints are you working with? A typical artist's palette consists of some sort of yellow, red, blue, blue-violet, red-violet, white, and brown. Pigment Translation: Cadmium Yellow, Cadmium Red, Phthalo Blue, Ultramarine Blue (blue-violet), Permanent Alizarin Crimson (red-violet), Titanium White and Burnt Sienna (brown). Some artist's prefer Burnt Umber instead of Burnt Sienna, and Cerulean Blue instead of Phthalo blue, which are both fine substitutes.

To mix very basic fall colors with the palette above:

Oranges= Yellow and Red, warm up with more red and red-violet, cool down with blue-violet.

Browns= Mix a green with the blue and yellow, then mix a red with red and red-violet. Then use both the mixed green and the mixed red to produce browns. Lighten your mixture with a mixed orange. You can use Burnt Sienna which is a natural brown. Warm up this brown color with orange produced with yellow and red, lighten the color with more yellow. Darken it with blue-violet or a mixed green.

Yellows= Create many shades of Yellow Ochres with red-violet and yellow. Use brown and yellow to create dull oranges. Tone yellow down using red-violet, because any other paint will change the color of the yellow, to resemble orange or green.

Reds= Mix a variety of reds using the entire palette using red-violet and red as the main color. Mix some greens with your yellow and blues to darken your reds.
