Can a painter paint anything they want? Do photographers have copyrights on their work that protects them against painters as well? (i'm talking about a professional artist looking to sell their work)

This is one of my favorite shots, but it is a slide that has faded over the years. The original was taken in 1981 or 1982 on Ektachrome while hanging out of an airplane door at about 1,200-1,500 feet up. Maybe it was 3,000 feet... I can't recall.

I have had an 8x10 version on display in my office for 25 years and it has finally faded to muted shades of brown, so I want to reprint the picture.

I have made one stab at editting for balance between light and dark levels and pumped up the contrast and saturation a little bit. I added some orange in the blown out highlight of the sun reflection on the river. I applied 50% unsharp mask.

What would YOU do if this was your shot?

I just graduated from my school and won't have kiln access anymore. I've been offered space outdoors if I want to build my own kiln. Can anyone give me advice (or plans) for how to build a *small* (room for ~6 medium size vessels would be fine) wood burning kiln?

I currently use grey and red clay (Hy-bond F-97 and Hy-bond F-96) which is glaze fired to cone 6. What temperatures can I expect to reach with a wood kiln, where can I find a stoking procedure, and what clay should I try?

I see small tubes of 'professional' acrylic paint at Michaels for ~$7.00 to ~$13.00, and then I see the same color in a bottle labled 'Craft Smart' or 'Apple Barrel' for around 50 cents. I am a beginning acrylic painter using pretreated stretched canvas. What is the reason these paints are so expensive? The colors seem identical held side by side to my eye. Is it more satisfying or perhaps more convenient? Is it worth purchasing if I am not painting as a means of income but instead as a means of expression? (i.e. Does expensive paints just mean a higher price tag for completed painting?) Thank you for any insight you may provide.

Plus, is it also possible to use one of my photos of me alone and take another photo, let's say of my dog, and stick my dog beside me?
If so, how do you do both?

Does anyone know where I can get a picture of Mount Ararat (in Armenia) to hang in my garage. I went to ebay and all they had were original oil paintings that were upwards of $900.00. I'm looking for a garage sale quality picture. Preferably an oil painting, even if its a cheap print that looks like an oil painting. It just needs to be able to stand up to the heat and moisture of my garage. (FYI: Its an ongoing inside joke that every hard core Armenian has a picture of mount Ararat in their garage so I think its time that I became hard core.) I'd rather not spend more than $60. Any help would be great. (maybe your grandma has one in her attic?)

I don't know the artist or title. We are on the inside of a building looking down a long room with a high, vaulted ceiling. The architecture apears to be roman or greek with hundreds of paintings hung on the walls of other roman or greek buildings. There are men in the picture in togas considering some of the pictures. It is lighted by sunlight. I wish to purchase a print.

I am switching careers and would like to pursue interior design. Since i do not have a lot of drawing skills, would it be beneficial to take an intro to drawing class? Also, for interior designers, what types of work are in your porftolio? Photos of rooms you have designed or drawings of room plans?

I just saw 2 of these paintings of ships, (ships look like old chinese sail ships) with castle that has spanish tiles on roof, and another with boats and lighthouse and storm.
The mother of pearl added in the painting is really nice.
Old frames look pretty original. How do you find more info on something like this in Rhode Island.
