Visual Arts - January 2007

I am applying to a fresmen scholarship program (for wash U) and I need some Ideas on how I can finish off my portfolio. I need 12 pieces, and right now I have 10. Every Item must exibit creativity
Ionly do hand drafting.
I can't submite any mechanical drafts- they don't want those.
I have to take photos of these and submite them in slide form.
Right now in my portfolio, I have:
One architectural model. (house)
One Landscape model (city park)
One home-built Bass
One slide of clips from movies.
Several Pieces of artwork.
Several sets of plans, with elevation, sections, plans ect.

p.s. I don't have a camera I can use of any sort of quality.

I have a portrait service on eBay the makes drawings based on photos of family members and pets. I want to expand my marketing outside of eBay and have designed a flier to post in various locations like coffee shops, book stores, animal shelters, etc. I would like some more ideas for where people would be sitting or standing and not just "zipping by." One person said they put them in nursery schools. I get a lot of parents or grandparents that want drawings of small children. So, any serious ideas would be appreciated. I would also consider publications or catalogs, but I have no idea where to look for that.

I have an Oil painting with the name "The Cottages" written at the back
I cannot quite see the full signiture on the painting but here is what I see E.C. W??? 1836 The painting is of An old cottage with a dormer type roof a wooden fence with a lady talking over it to a man on a small horse ,two more ladies and a child sitting on the kerb one lady reading a book and a dog sits in front of them there is abarn of sorts in front of the cottage with two donkey's one inside and one outside wonder could anyone tell me where this painting originates from???

I discovered a new passion last semester when I took a Color Theory and Application class taught through painting with acrylics. I have enough paint left over to open a store,lol, and I reeeeeaaaallllllllllly want to continue painting, but without an "assignment" I don't know what to paint! It feels wasteful to just mess around or whatever.
I would love to paint pieces for a contest or something but I don't know where to begin.

I can not afford backdrops, because one i dont have the money, and too I dont have too time for photography because i work for a videographer [http://saylorstudios.com] well until i start college at brooks institute of photography.
But im still wondering if theres any way i can make my own. simple ones. so recommend any colors or types of material?

I'm developing a keen interest in photography and am looking for a good camera to start with. I'm reading a lot of great reviews for the new Canon eos digital rebel xt 8mp. Now that camera runs about $700-800 here in B.C. Is it silly to spend that kind of money or should I just stick to my Nikon Coolpix 2200 which I'm still not taking any great pictures with. I'm not going to be going into photography on any professional level but like I said I just really want to have a great camera. Pearls of wisdom are always appreciated!
