I just got a digital camera for Christmas. I had been wanting one for quite a while. Now I am ready to take great pictures. I just need some creative ideas. I really would like to do some self portraits to post on my myspace page, but I would love creative picture ideas of any kind. Thanks.

I'm looking to connect with anyone familar with oil painting. I'm a newbie, trying to teach myself a few techniques. I must repeat though, I am extremely new to it.....I have some questions that I can't seem to find the answers to online. One question for example: Do I need to do anything, (sprays, oil, varnish etc) on a finished painting before framing/glass over?
Thanks for anyone that can help or add a link possibly that I haven't found. The browser takes me to about.com mostly and I don't care for it.

I was making some block prints and thought I would make some of them in color, and when I went to go put the color on, it smeared! I know, I know, I should have read the bottle more carefully, but I thought it meant water soluble(sp?) for clean up, you know, when it's still wet, and non water soluble when dry, like acrylics. I tried black acrylic, but it gums up too easily and isn't as nice and dark as the printing ink. Is there anything else I can do? I don't like the fact that even if I wanted to keep my print just black and white it would still 'run' if it got wet. Please advise, and if you know of anything, please let me know what and where to get it. The stores around here are limited at best and the catalogs I have now have the basic stuff only. (I am concerned with permanance.) Also, I have seen oil based print ink, but will this rot paper? How could I make the paper more rot proof? Sorry to ask so many questions within a question. LOL!!! Thanks! :)

I'm painting a picture of a dog and a cat and a bunch of oranges (I know it sounds stupid but its gonna be cool I promise) anyway id like the background to be one solid color and the oranges to be really bright and I want them to stand out.

The problem is I think black is the best way to stand the oranges out BUT the cat is black and I don't want him to disappear into the background.

So what other color would make orange really stand out?

I am looking for some sites that have similar photo options (preferably better) than Shutterfly. Key factors are reliability, price range (I am willing to pay for quality, but not over-pay),and original options. The plan is to to create some calenders, photo books, and other such gifts. All useful suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
