Visual Arts - September 2006

What would be a good, inexpensive digital camera for a beginer? I want something that could do cool stuff, not just for taking pictures at birthday parties, etc. Would it be a mistake to get a digital camera if I want to take cool pictures? Can you take black and white pictures with one? Please feel free to give me any info you have in detail, but I would appreciate if you had experience.

The marking on the bottom says "Art -Vennte- France" in a diamond with -what looks like- Vennte in the middle. It's in english. It's a crystal vase in a kind of swirled shape, like a tornado. Help would be greatly appreciated.

Is there a web site that allows you to look up artists work and has a little analysis to tell you what its about, for example, for my Art A-level I need to look up some work on Auguste Rodin, but I can't find a decent website that'll tell me what the work is about. why is that scanners always produce lines on the scanned image...esp if its a dark image? Could it be because the ridged cable thats connected to the scanner lens rubs against the under surface of the glass surface? Is there away to avoid it ?
