A few hours ago I made a comment when seeing a little boy climbing a tree with incredible speed and dexterity. I said, "Wow! That kid climbs like a little monkey!"

The kid happened to be black.

I was told, by a very adamant and irate bystander, "You can't say 'monkey' when talking about an African American! That's racist!!!"

I CAN'T!?

It IS!?

The kid CLIMBED like a monkey, so I said it. Nothing more.

Don't we have the right to verbally express our opinions anymore?

I don't mean saying something with the INTENTION of offending...

I mean, where is it written that we HAVE to constantly censor your own verbiage to use certain words and phrases that OTHERS deem "politically correct"?

Is not ANY verbiage constraint BY DEFINITION a violation of the concept of verbal freedom?

Assuming I took no actions more negative than that of any other religion.

Also, I feel compelled to state that I do not worship the Devil. This question is philosophical in nature.

just putting some thoughts out there...

I'm 17 and going through that stage of life where i wonder what the hell everything is about and is it all worth it? at times i get frustrated and angry at society and the people in it...one current thing on my mind is an apparent obsession with 'being different'.

So whats it all about? if these people truly are 'deep', or 'different' or 'themselves' then why is there such a strong need for them to prove it? especially when the majority do so by adding it to 'myspace' (as an example) in an attempt to let the masses know how unique they truly are!

it seems another 'trend' that people are trying to follow in order to validate themselves... but how are they different when everyone else is doing the same thing?

What the stupidest feeling?

I think that nationalism/patriotism is the stupidest feeling ever. C'mon wtf. Its a freaking piece of land that you were born on. What do you owe it? Absolutely nothing. Thats why i hate people in the military. The useless idiots wasting their lives fighting for a piece real estate. It may be true that life maybe meaningless if one has no ideals, but patriotism????? LOLWTFOMGBBQ

Shallow in character that is. If there is one statement that can typify our century it is that the common person on the street has become as shallow as a puddle on the side of the road.

The past has not seen so much me-ism, so much self important arrogance. While it is true that these flaws of the human character have been present through out history, there has not been this level before. Today we see the mark of this society inscribed on almost every school age kid, the glorification of getting the fast car and the girl. In history 'values' were instilled into these same aged kids. Do not miss understand here, the values I speak of are the values of kindness and truth, of fidelity and the pursuit of honour over pursuit of riches.

To use the words of then, "It makes me sick to the soul.” So, my question is Why? Why is what we have today, our society, our callousness for others and hatred of difference that comes this self assured arrogance so mach better than what was in history? Is progress worth the price?

Serious answers only please.

Thanks.

Racism hiding racism?
I'm going to give you 2 samples
.
1. Girl from South Africa moved into our house because she used to live alone & wanted to have company. Despite making her feel welcome & treated her no differtly from each other, she moved out saying she was lonely (despite chatting to her every time she came and went in the house, I’m the chatterbox of the house and often say otter nonsense to get people talking). She was always making nasty comments about the about the Korean house mate (a shy and nice girl) but I took down do hating noise at 2 in the morning (the Korean girl is a night owl). She now won’t talk to us and only talks to people her own colour, we were upset & a little insulted that she suggested we were excluding her.
2. I’m friends with a French girl who lived with Italians but was always ignored because of her different culture & the Italians blamed her for her exclusion. I was invited to a party but these Italians would not speck to me & barley to her, (an hour of this was horrible but I felt it would be rude to leave) we danced, I attempted to make idle chit chat but it was rely frustrating. I think only a German guy managed to talk to me because he liked my guts (only English speaker) attending a party of international; students. A few days later the Italians were moaning that they are being excluded by the native English speakers & we were all racist. I got really annoyed because after trying to be friendly when in their house, two parties & attempts to engage with them, they still refused to even acknowledge my existence. They excluded anyone who was not willing or unable (me) to relate to them in every way.
I know i'm not racist I may be a little clueless to other cultures at times but we are all guilty of that. Both cases state that all English speaker are racist this hurtful to any English speaker who attempt to socalise with everyone equal but I’m annoyed with them claming racism when do hide where own racism.
So how to we get along when we won’t put away our own misconceptions?
I hate to use titles like Italian, french est. but only way I could illustrate the issue without suggesting names. 

Right now I'd ask him "Where are my keys?!" I want to go out, and they're nowhere to be seen!

Seriously; I'd ask him if he's happy with how I've lived so far.

If you Could not die under any circumstances whatever. Insant tissue regeneration, never getting ill. Even if you were burned in a furnace the particles would gather together and make you whole again. You would live untill the the Universe itself came to an end, perhaps for 15 to 20 Billion more years. I think a few thousand years or even tens of thousands of years would be desirable, but 20 Billion?

I have this thing, not so sure how to describe it but...it's on the inner of my lip. it's not on my gums but the part that touches it...like inside of my lip. it's white and it hurts. Stings..when i move my mouth or touch it with my tongue. it's little red and swollen but not really noticiable. I think it might be because for the last few days i haven't had sleep and even if i did it was like...maybe less than 3~hours. I had lots of stress doing paper work for school and my neck and body was all stiff and aching as well. I didn't get the chance to eat proper meals...3 times a day...so I skipped a lot. Do you think vitamins will help? I do have an insurance but it's for the summer..so I can't use it right now.
