I guess how you define Love determines your answer.

Is Love a feeling?........an action?......a mindset?.....or something else?

For me true love is not bound by how i feel, or how well i live up to my ideals or standards of behavior. We all fail to be as right as we hoped we would be.

True Love is a guide by which we choose to see ourselves and our world. It is not a list of rules to live by but more of an attitude of acceptance and compassion for all things as they are good, bad or otherwise.

It informs lovers, Friends, parents, worshipers etc.... on how to manifest love through action, thought, desire, emotion...

as an agnostic I view love as my God or Goddess

so I guess Godly Love would be my answer ....

My only concern is that what I mean as Godly Love should not be confused with the paternalistic rules enforcing god of my childhood's religious upbringing

True Love is True love ....

True Romantic love is it .. but just consider it as :-
If your Romantic Love get away from you ?? or just cheated on you ?? or got other guy ??
your love for her would be the same ??

Platonic Love ?? is is not boring in a while or a bet ?? may be not .. but there is no Platonic love .. Except in imagination ..

Godly love ??
You believe in God .. So God is always there .. he creates you so he must love you ..
Even you did alot of things that he ordered you not to do .. yet he Doesn't punish you .. even if you thought so .. and also he will forgive you anytime you will go ask his forgiveness .. no matter what you did ..

Motherly love ???
Look it as a part of Godly love .. you will see the point ..

Self Love ..??

You love your self .. but is this true love ?? you can forgive yourself on some actions you took ??
So why 15 % on populations commit suicide on some part of their life's ??

Godly love = God created Romantic love + Platonic love + Motherly love + Self God ..and any other kinds of love ..

So Think and choose your answer ..

Enjoy your life ..
Have a great day ..
Good Luck ..
.

Motherly love, usually, whether it's a father's or mother's. True love focusses on the other, but most loves are self centred - and so can even motherly love. Then they are self-love. Yet without some affection for self, some real self recognition, I think one is not ready to be able to love "other".

It depends widely on each person. My answer would be Motherly Love, but thats not the same for the next person whose mother abandoned him/her as a child. Motherly love has been the best, truest, purest & most significant love I have had in my life. Everyone is different and experiences varying degrees of love within each relationship - so there cannot be one definite answer. All we can hope is that everyone experiences True Love in whatever shape or form it comes in.

Motherly love!!! The mother who cherishes her children will stay up all night every night with her sick child. She will do without just so they have some things they want/need. Her children come first, even above her husbands needs! The first day of school, to graduation, to marriage, her eyes shine with pride and gratitude! There is no love, on this earth, like a mother's love! I know, many will answer God's love, but to me, a woman, who loves her child, is a direct channel of this same love.

Depends on who is first in your life: for some, God is the center and love for him is the strongest, for others, Romantic Love-- the loves shared between two people who feel the same connections and emotions, the two that devote their lives to each other. For some, Platonic love-- the love between siblings (brother and sister) can be strong if they are especially close and reared together, Motherly love can be compared to ac child who loves their mother, such as a 3 year old, their mother is the center of their universe and the child develops separation anxiety when separted. Self Love can really be the most true love for the majority of people regardless of age, race, religion, origin, etc. People tend to please theirselves more before putting another before them. Like who would be willing in the military to take a bomb for someone? Even the Bible states, There is no greater love, than a man lay down his life for his friends. I think the truest of love is putting others' needs (if legitimate) before your own. And the most common love that people nowadays demonstrate is love for "self".

loved noahhope's answer :-)

very difficult question indeed.
Romantic love...is love itself...romance is love..love is romance...so ...not romantic love.. :)

godly love...very true...very pure...but then...

motherly love...i have not been a mother ...so i haven't really felt it myself...but i am sure its true and unconditional..because i felt my mom's love for me and my bro...but i need to feel it myself...to give it total justice...so... :)

self-love...not true...sometimes..ppl don't love themselves at all...it might be for the self...but not true...at a point of time...when someone falls in love with someone else..the self-love becomes divided.

Now platonic love...i love this form of love...i might sound weird..but i think its the closest...because platonic love is spiritual bond..involving two people. Without least expectations of anything but an emotional attachment.
If i stay abide by the actual meaning...then it can exist between anyone with no lust of anykind.

but then...if i chose anyone of the above...i will feel guilty..each form of love mentioned above is true and pure and is felt by each one of us at a certain point of time in its truest form...so i haven't lived much to segregate and chose any one of them :(

i will surely love to answer this when i will be atleast 80 yrs old with enough experience. ;-)

so......... *confused*

:)

I know that two of all of the above comes the very closest to TRUE LOVE and they are Godly Love & Self Love. Godly Love is the Ultimate Love because God created all of us - his baby gods and we all take after his personality. God can be happy, sad, angry, and a lot of other emotions which he expresses in a lot of ways with us and with his very own creations. We, as God's children, do the exact same thing with the people we choose to have in our lives, our family, and whatever we may as humans choose to create. God has made us in his image and we are just like him, as we are mini Gods. Self Love also relates to Godly love because we all know that if we can't love ourselves, we can never love someone else. Loving ourselves is very simple and all of us are capable of it. Every human loves them self more than anyone else especially by waking up and choosing to wake up and live each day.
Another perfect example of showing how much you love yourself is by scratching or pinching yourself, the pinch/scratch will hurt you, and in loving yourself you'll rub that spot where the pinch/scratch was until the pain subsides.
Same as in, when I wake up in the morning and does my usual hygiene routine, asking my husband how I look or if I look good. That's because in the spirit world I don't have a body but I can see someone's soul.
That being said, it all goes into when you're finding your true love - you look for yourself in that person and you look for their soul hence the phrase soul mate.
