Sometimes when I get into a conversation about free will, I'll ask someone what other languages he speaks. If he speaks English and took two years of Spanish but hasn't been exposed to any other language, I'll ask if he can suddenly begin speaking in French. If he says no, I'll tell him that if his will is truly free, he SHOULD be able to.

It's a silly argument, but I wonder if there's a more specific category for it among fallacies of logic than "nonsense."

I seem to be battling to find out where I can learn about posthumans and related things such as the simulation argument by nick bostrom, stories about posthumans and their behavior.

Do you want to be a sailor, baker, or candlestick maker? Or something else? A lawyer, used car salesman, politican, or snake oil salesman? Or something else? A movie star, dictator, circus performer, or belly dancer? Or something else? Just exactly WHAT do you want to do?

Hi, I've a big doubt, can anyone advice me? I'd like to leave my country and live abroad. The problem is that if I go, i leave all my friends and my family here. Things will happen and I will miss them (friends getting married, babies born, ecc). But I think that only if I leave, I'll have my freedom and I'll feel alive again even if I'm afraid I could feel lonely once abroad...

From the partial ideas we have, we can learn more from others by asking questions. It is better to be a fool just for a day by asking a question and being answered, than being a fool for years without knowing.
