Philosophically, if you believe in destiny, then yes everything is in the hands of destiny. However, people can direct their destiny by their attitude, aptitude, and perseverance. Look up Invictus, by William Ernest Hensley. A good poem about overcoming difficulties and the concept of destiny.
OUT of the night that covers me,

I thank whatever gods may be

You create your own destiny by choices, decisions, actions, that you make throughout life. These things open up different paths that each lead to different destinies of life. And the great thing about that is actually your destiny can always be in your hands if you are determined to make it what you want.

No. One half is destiny and the other is the Person. Destiny means what has already belong to the Person: family, including the wealth, environment, church, school, peers. And the Person 's success depends on him, his striving, taking opportunity, ensivioning....

yep.. but that hand is ours and we can alter it anytime, any day. perhaps you were a drunkard, and you were destined to die the next week but you halted your despicable ways. then, you've contrived a new destiny for yourself.
