I mean, why is ethics instilled in our minds? What if you choose to be bad but won't hurt anyone by your decision, why is it important to choose to be good? Or if we do hurt people if we do bad, so what if it will benefit you anyway?
I need serious answers for my philosophy class. My professor told us to ask the opinions of as many people as we can. Thanks!:)

The heart of science is the ability to replicate the results of an experiment which intrinsically depends on an ordered universe. With an ordered universe you find yourself on the doorstep of yes, sorry guys...The Boss.

If we believe there is a god, do we then need to believe we have certain situations presented to us, which where ultimately going to occur, and would our actions in these situations cause different outcomes, or is the result also set in accordance to how it will end? We do feed poor in the name of "charity". If a poor die without food on this earth right now after all these advancement isn't it shame on us? Aren't we absolute "selfish" to spend on things outside earth(in the name of gaining knowledge) and not taking care of the people in need. Its the human who created countries and introduced money. How could we leave them to die witout food while we enjoy the images from mars and to get excited about the new space inventions...

I am trying to stop making statements like, "I pay my bill on time unlike so many other people." This is just an example and would be grossly mistaken in real life but you get the idea. Why do we do this? Why do we make statements that degrade others? Do you feel this is an impediment to true enlightenment?

According to my teacher eventually the moon could be used as a source for oxygen so I know we might go back out of necessity one day, but why are we no longer really interested in practical space exploration like we are satisfied with our scarce knowledge of our solar neighborhood?
