The only significance is that it is the largest value single digit in the decimal system of numerals. As a result, any multiple of it has such digits whose total sum in single digit value remains unchanged at 9.
For instance
5 times 9 is 45 .... 4+5 = 9
11 times 9 is 99... 9+9=18... 1+8=9
Sorry, if you are looking for numerology .....I have no clue about that.

Yes, the significance for the number "9" is that, if you eat as much as you can, 9 times a day, you will become very vert fat. This is also the significance for the numbers from 3 to 9 as well.

I don't think there's any special significance for the number 9 , it's like asking if 42 has a special meaning , and it has but only in stories and such ( Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy ) or 3 in bed time stories

It is a number that has very interesting qualities, for a numerology standpoint. How many "3" symbols can you think of in today's religions? The holy Trinity God, the Holy Spirit, and Jesus. The God, the Goddess and Spirit. The cycle of Life Death and Rebirth (Christians into heaven, Pagens back into the cycle).
3*3=9 the trinity times 3 equals 9 and thus nine is thought to be the perfect number.

It is considered to be a mystic number, and it is traditionally considered by eastern culture as a steady number.... The digits of the multiples add up to nine... some features like, the difference to swapping a two-digit number is a multiple of nine... and so on, mathematically speaking...

People from india LOVE that number.
I worked for the dmv, and I had indian customers who would wait ALL DAY for me to get to a certain license plate sequence in my inventory.
They would run up and want to register their car at that moment so they could get that specific plate that had a 9 in it. (We can't take plates out of order, so they would wait HOURS for the number to come up).
However, they would never splurge and pay the 40 bucks for a personalized plate. They would have all the 9s they wanted in that case!
