And yet the questions of stupid nature keep arising. What is going on did every teacher on earth kill themselves this week??? Am i missing out on a stupidity movement???

I'm a junior in college and have been slightly depressed lately. I have been seriously considering leaving college to work with my family's business. After long conversations and crying with my mom she says that she will support me no matter what i do so long as it makes me happy. Only problem is that i have no clue what makes me happy. The last time i truly remember being happy was when i was 7 and living in Machias with my mom and 3 sisters and having the rest of my family living on my street. (we were really close). Now I find myself completely disappointed with my life. Everyone has grown and moved including myself. I am so unhappy with what i'm doing right now But college is something that you need to do if you want to do anything with my life...which is my family's basic view. I just don't know what to do. I was wondering if anyone had any thoughts on my current problem. Thank you so much for your responses.

I am on the Oregon Coast searching for Agates. I am with my mom and I feel very happy even though the day is overcast. I find lots of light colored Agates (cream, white, yellow, pink/peach) and get excited every time I pick one up because I know how hard they are to spot. The water looks dark and I KNOW it is cold but I feel warm and comfortable.

I beleive they just read the other persons mind... that they cant tell the future, do u agree? She also told my mom that i have emotional problems that only a doctor can help. I feel like i'm perfectly normal.

Why live, when there is no such thing as an afterlife?

What is the point of life then?

What are we really living for?

OK. All of the metals are formed under the earths surface, all the human bodies at full weight die, decompose, and more are born each and every minute. The trees we cut down to build houses, furniture, paper, etc are manufactured. Some of these of course are still around, some have burned into ashes, to go back into the earth. I think you can get the jest of what I'm trying to ask? Are we any heavier (the earth) now then eons ago when it was formed???

I lie crying on my bed after reading sobbing running tears, I cannot deny that I hold so true to my warm heart, as the head jerks while the hands grab the years, of the story foretold of the Athens , oh, most dear, let the tears come to rest as I'm touched by you, seeing the maket square while the rooster roars, of the only thing that I only know is that I love you, examining the poets, artians and oracle's folklore, my eyes awaken as Plato comes sitting in a trance , we" love you" blaring in my ears listening to the gentle winds soar, neither, of us can pretend that we didn't love the stance, my blood boils to violently shake out tears , I will not leave you sitting next to the inmate's bed, i wll not leave my only friend I hold you dear, for without the examination I would of stayed by the riverbed, wondering what the only thing I not could not known, that loving is the examination is the only worthy thing living, the only thing I know of the worhty thing that loving is the thing...

If space and time are connected, then before the big bang, there was no time. Is it possible to imagine a state of no time, I sure can't and it seems that even by imagining nothingness, you still feel the time pass.

I am president of the Philosophy Club at my school. Every other week we meet to discuss a paper. Both students and full time faculty attend. I am in charge of finding these papers. I am looking for something that is about the length of a standard journal article, or maybe a shorter book chapter, accessable enough that novices can participate, but (more importantly) complex enough that professional PhD philosophers can be entertained by an hour discussion on the topic. These pieces need to be controvercial, and it would help if they weren't extremely well known in that subsection of the field. Maybe a spurious argument for something that seems at face value to be false, but might require some work to pin down what the actual problem was. If you all knew of anything like this, it would be extremely helpful. The more the better!
