Philosophy - September 2006

"To thine own self be true," as goes the familiar Shakespearean quote that is now used as proverb. But what if your true self doesn't really faciliate a successful life? What then? I'm not even talking about someone with an inherent propensity for getting into trouble. What if you are like a recluse? Surely you shouldn't remain a recluse.

Some things that are true about a person but may not be widely accepted, are commonly taken out of a person's discussion. When it does come to be spoken of, they often lie about what they've been through or think, to be accepted by others. I'm a fan of telling the truth all of the time, whether one is to like it or not. The truth is the truth thusforth no reason to be ashamed, for it's the truth. Why are most afraid to be themselves? Curious.

He died in a job he loved; he didn't take any risk that he felt he didn't have control over. Steve was a good human being, who had two kids, and a wife, who he left behind, coupled with a dream and a leagen of the "Crocodile Hunter". And that’s all those networks need to focus on, yet they want to get inside his head, "Why Did he take the risk. Jack Hanna said it best on fox News Network the other night, it's more likely for him to have died in a car crash or struck by lightening then for him to die from an Animal. If they really wanted to get into his head, if they wanted to get in his head, all they need to do is get out there desk, and go buy a hermit crab or a gerbil, something that they normally would be afraid of, but they create a bound with because of that fear, and learn to value that animal. Thats what was in his head, a value that understood risk others wouldn't have. You don't stick your hand in a cage full of lions, and don't understand the risk.

Here is my answer to the debate.

Both are correct. Here's how easy it is. God started making the earth before time existed. God created time. A day to God is like millions of years to us. It even says that in the bible.

So creation and evolution are actually the same thing!

I see many people saying they are bothered by people pushing Christianity on others through schools, state, etc. So, that is a political argument. It is NOT hating Christians. It is just atheist people with a democratic bent. These people would also be concerned if some other religion were dominating things in the public realm.

If I were to answer my own question, I would say that some Christians identify so closely with their religion, they think that criticism of the church is a personal attack. But I wonder what others would say to this ...
