He died in a job he loved; he didn't take any risk that he felt he didn't have control over. Steve was a good human being, who had two kids, and a wife, who he left behind, coupled with a dream and a leagen of the "Crocodile Hunter". And that’s all those networks need to focus on, yet they want to get inside his head, "Why Did he take the risk. Jack Hanna said it best on fox News Network the other night, it's more likely for him to have died in a car crash or struck by lightening then for him to die from an Animal. If they really wanted to get into his head, if they wanted to get in his head, all they need to do is get out there desk, and go buy a hermit crab or a gerbil, something that they normally would be afraid of, but they create a bound with because of that fear, and learn to value that animal. Thats what was in his head, a value that understood risk others wouldn't have. You don't stick your hand in a cage full of lions, and don't understand the risk.

Anyways they should focus his life, his family, and his dream. And stop trying to “tell” stuff that doesn’t need to be told.

jessicadrapp, he also had a wife and kids who loved that life as well, his daugther(6yrs old) just started her own outback clothes line, which she model walking down the runway with a snake around her neck, his wife was put in just as much danger, his son he credited to underware he wore while in leach infested water, because he believe like crocs in certain condition a boy would be born. Oh and the expedition he went on during his finale shoot, his daughter was going to host with him. Any risk he took he loved, and they accepted. Oh and this wasn't the first tiime he swam with sting rays, he knew the animal, and I think he accepted his death, because he knew the risk.

Good point LA. The whole John Mark Karr situation, and other situations, every network seem to think we give a Da%mn that someones eating, Do I care if some one at peanuts on a plane no, so why would I care about someone eating shrimp, or cake. They are like that little kid who comes to tell you somebody ate something, just because they didn't get to it first. I personally think John just wanted to get a ride home, or commited another crime and felt this would redeem himself, if he takes the blame for the only case he could think of.

I think that the primary reason these 24 hour news stations spend so much time analyzing EVERYTHING is because they need to fill 24 hours a day with "news," so their reporting turns into speculation and supposition, not journalism and not reporting. These news shows also focus on sensationalism and editorializing rather than straightforward reporting...(just watch and see how many times the reporters say "if", "suppose", "might", "may") I remember when FOX news used to use their special fonts and sounds and graphics for breaking news that was actually news, but now, you'll notice, they use it for gossipy items about Tom Cruise and personal opinion from their staff about any and every topic. And FOX news isn't alone, the other networks have followed suit.
Further, the news in general, I think, has become very focused on fear. Everything is potentially hazardous and things are presented in worst-case scenarios, so rather than honor an individual who died doing what they love to do and who left behind a wife and two children, the focus is on how this accident could have been prevented and ohmygod is the water safe and the man's entire career is called into question--interesting though, that despite his job being risky, a death from a sting ray is a very rare occurrence.

Would you expect any less? Look at the John Mark Karr situation, they gave that complete overkill and even when they found out that the guy had nothing to do with it - they've CONTINUED to talk about him. We live a time when stories get complete overkill, they don't care about anything but getting ratings. When they know the public will watch it, they'll keep talking about it until it makes us throw up.
However, I did love Mr. Steve Irwin's show and thought he was an amazing guy. I wouldn't count it yet as overkill on the story because he was such an iconic figure, but I do sense that overkill is on the horizon.

Its media,,,,,,,,,,,,Can you shut down TV. News Paper, Radio and walk on the street just to hear the unintentional music of birds and sound of wind? You are lucky. There is still some freedom in you
Can you listen the way your mind created story by seeing all these media hype? They are sensationalising everything to get audiance, increase TRP to get more advertisement revenue. They do not have any intention to give you peace of mind and pure knowledge. If wars are not giving enough viewers, they will create some thing. Probably after a period, we will realise that media employed Crocodiles and other animals to kill people (Like CNN employed Bush and Osama). Their salary will be given as human flesh.....see the drama that also will evolve some time later.

Because he was that rarest of things in our modern 'sterile, play safe, take no risks or be sued' world - A true character. He stuck two fingers up at the establishment and got our attention by showing us nature in the raw. He'll be sadly missed no matter how much the media try to destroy his image - here in the UK it was correctly shown as loosing a great character - the world is a slightly poorer place for his loss - and there aren't many people you can say that about!

It's obvious that the news people have gone way over the edge trying to sensationalize even the simplest things.
How many time do we see the president speak on national television and then some half wit reporter spends the next two hours rehashing and repeating every word the president said ?
Time to stop watching this crap they call the news - it's not supposed to be entertainment !!!!!
I totally agree with you in many ways. I am a military veteran and it just kills me to see these damn reporters in a combat zone taking pictures and asking stupid questions and trying to entertain people with tragedy.
God speed Steve Irwin - thanks for your research and love of nature, you will surely be missed !

Some people considered him to be a national hero in Australia. He started zoos in that country. He also was an intergral part to the making of the Animal Planet network. In the early days of that channel it was basically just showing stuff he did.

Yes, he did die doing what he loved. His personality seemed to come through the TV and fill people with a homey type of companionship. I met Steve and Terri by a visit to their Zoo and he was the warmest person I have ever met, well, except for my husband. Bindi is totally crushed, Terri told me in an email. She adored her daddy.
The family needs tons of prayers.

i agree, i would love to have the courage of working with animals like he did! Steve ( the Croc man ) Was a good hero of mine after what he did for all those animals... He was a good man husband and father!
Nobody should be talked about like that at all, what if his family were watchin that ... they must've been heartbroken at leasdt ge died doing what he lovess, instead of dying a way he wouldnt have wanted, im sure he respects what happend... why cant people respect him?

I haven't been watching TV, but you're right when I turned on Fox last night "On the Record" - Greta's show, they were just going on and on and on about it.
When I went to Yahoo's home page this morning, they advertised that he pulled out the barb, and that his death was caught on tape, etc. It's just too much detail over and over about such a sad thing.
He was a wonderful man, kids and adults alike LOVED HIM. My prayers go out to his family - God Bless his wife and children.
