Some things that are true about a person but may not be widely accepted, are commonly taken out of a person's discussion. When it does come to be spoken of, they often lie about what they've been through or think, to be accepted by others. I'm a fan of telling the truth all of the time, whether one is to like it or not. The truth is the truth thusforth no reason to be ashamed, for it's the truth. Why are most afraid to be themselves? Curious.

For example. I find this amusing. Someone has thumbs downed this question, because it does not fit that ideology of society. Interesting. I've noticed that on many a question, the thumbs up and down system has been used to uphold the system of what one "expects" to hear rather than the truth of what is being said. If your truth doesn't fit my ideology, I thumbs down you. That's how it goes.

"Being politically correct means saying what's polite rather than what's accurate. I like to be accurate." - Robert Kiyosaki
Apparently the phrase for what I am is politically incorrect.

The people that are afraid to be themselves, are indeed lacking selfconfidence. And this can be by things that happened in their younger life...
Okay, there will always people that go with the flow, and therefore lie to be accepted as being ideal - like a contest of being popular...
But for the largest part: One of the most logical explanations is that they used to be ridiculed for what they said/did. This leaves emotional scars (I can know)!
The main question I ask myself is why people can't accept that other people are different. Why don't they appreciate their being different, their being sincere and why can't they accept the truth of others as a refreshing look on life (no matter how different that may be - as long as it's ethical)?
So I suppose people are afraid of being themselves, because they realize they don't fit the ideal traditions - they believe that they are not normal. But in fact the 'ideal tradition' is more a braintwister... What is ideal? Ideal in this world does not exist! Ideal for you, is maybe not ideal for me.
The solution to it all is: RESPECT for another opinion, for other people... When there's respect, the truth will follow!
BTW Thumbs up for the question!!!!!

I absolutely agree with u...and u r not the only one...i often think about it too..but i think that different ppl have different reasons for that...it just depends on their personality....
And u no if u think in terms of psychology, self-hatred is the true reason for lying...So some things are just too hard for ppl to accept...they go around lying about it again and again in order to escape...but then they realize that they get caught up in the lie and things get even worse each time that lie is told...at the same time, they feel like there is no way out now that they have told so many lies...now they feel that there is no other way bu keep lying...it's just a cycle...and i think that our main perpose in life is to grow out of it...to stop the cycle...and start accepting ourselves for what we are...and those who do it first (like u for example) grow up faster..it is either because ur self-esteem is a lot higher than the one of those who lie or because u r just really brave...good work man!!! u no i have been thru this stuff when i was younger...and now i m so glad that i m always up for the truth...people will always respect u when u say the truth...
i have just remembered my teacher back in high school..we had a discussion on y ppl lie in general (not only to fit in i mean)...and he said ' well guys, there is good lies and bad lies. for example, if u c a mother with a baby, would u ever tell her that her baby was ugly? no..u would say he was cute'..i liked his example..but i think that even in this kinda situation, i prefer to stay quiet if possible rather than saying what i don't think...

Truth is hard like diamond and clear like crystal. Traditional norms are formed from practical living experiences. Mostly they vary from the truth. To tell truth you need a lot of courage. Even willing to give your life for that reason. Deeper the truth you say, higher the hatred of the society on you.

I'm glad to hear that someone is willing to stand up for the truth instead of give into to societal pressure.
I think it partially stems from a desire to be accepted by others. I once knew a person that I asked a controversial question to, and he would not give me an answer, but instead, asked me questions to try to figure out what I thought, because he didn't want to disagree with me.

The truth is only one. and the mistakes are much/many.Truth in this world is not always the same with the God's truth.Truth in social science is moving and changing. It depends on situation and condition.Homan being laws and regulation can be changed and updated but God's laws are permanent and last longer.
If we have a mistake we must gently acknowledge it.Reasoning is not always be believing.Discussion result which be voted in majority is not always representing a truth..Politic is dirty so its decision is not always right. The winner in politic is always the most strength but it is not always the most truth.

I guess I am incorrect also, I do not have to prove myself to anybody, and I at times, really do not have the concerns if someone is going to like me or not because I do not meet that expectation.
I do however try to spare the feeling for the truth, somethings are better left unsaid.

I think that most people that do not tell the truth tend to lack self-confidence. Whether we like it or not, today's society is cruel and you have to 'fit in'. If people do not feel confident about themselves they are always aware of other people's criticism so they go with the easy solution - that is to agree with them in order to be accepted.
