What is the basis of right and wrong? Do you think that if more people realized what right and wrong is that there might be less rules, laws, and governance attempting to limit action and more deliberate effort to prevent undesirable action by motivating positively as a preventative measure. In other words shift focus from negative to positive. Does anyone even agree with any of this.

Why am I asking this here on the internet? Am I just plain stupid?
I don't have an answer yet for that.

I don't know...

Miscellaneus ponderings.

Futile in nature....Most likely.

I asked this question in the physics section and one answerer suggested posting it in the philosophy section...According to the quantum theory, when we don't look at the moon all that exists is a probability density. When we make an observation of the moon's position we force the universe to take a stand and the moon pops into existance at a certain place. So is it really there when we don't observe it? Einstein once asked a quantum physicist if they really believed that the moon wasn't there when nobody was looking. What do you think? Notice that this is just a modern day physics version of the "If a tree falls in the woods and nobody's around to hear it does it make a sound?" question. This question is closely related to an old philosophical question that asks whether or not our mind's perception of the universe is accurate. When we percieve a tree do we actually observe the tree as it really is? or is what we call a tree just our mind's take on a tree based on sensory information?

We all have personalities, certain ways of thinking and actings. We all have value systems we try to live by and ideals about the world and so forth. Do you think yours are good for other people to have as well, or do they just work for you. Personally, I just try to do what works for me. I'm not a usual guy, so I don't think I can generalize.

why is it that a small percentage of the answers given to peoples ?'s are really derogitory? it seems there are always a few people that are wanting to vent thier anamosity on to others. some of the ?'s are lagitimate and deserve an honest answer. then are these few that feel like they have to belittle because they have an answer that is worthy of stating. funny how people love to spread thier negative, angery thoughts onto others....

Why do you like certain artworks while others don't move you at all, while others yet are just "rubbish" to you? What standards would you apply to a work or art to decide if it is of aesthetic value? How it relates its content? Artefactual elements? Social/use-value considerations? Postmodern levelling?
How should aesthetic form best mediate sedimented content?

Someone I know has a severe degenerative neurological disease. "Bob" says that he no longer wishes to remain alive and prays for death every night (he is a professed Christian). He has suffered many devastating losses--mobility, job, friends, cognitive function (memory, clear speech, confusion, etc.), sexual function, among other things. He is still a middle aged man and this disease probably will not kill him. He understands that he is depressed, but does not "believe" in therapy or counseling ("it's all bullsh*t"). Every day is a formidable struggle for Bob--just getting out of bed and into the bathroom takes enormous energy and concentration--he states that "this is not living--this is hell." Don't spout platitudes or try to tell him to "have a better attitude." He will rip your throat out! He believes that if anyone would spend 24 hours in his mind/body, they, too, would prefer death. What would you say to Bob?
