~Meaningful to whom or to what?
The Khmer Rouge though the deaths of as many as 3 million people were meaningful in that those deaths cleansed the nation.
Much like Eichmann thought about the 6 million Jews and 9 million others who died in the camps, or the Bureau of Indian Affairs thought about making "good indians".
Death is not meaningful to the deceased. He's dead. Death is a natural and inevitable consequence of life. What others make of a death is moot to the stiff.

I think soldiers who are dying for their countries are dying a meaningful death. They are so young, strong and full of life, They also have family , but they make scarifies so that people of their country can live happily and sleep in peace. Their death is not only meaningful but also respectful.
"MAY THE SOULS OF ALL THE DEAD SOLDIERS REST IN PEACE"

the position is the meaning behind demise? You decompose into worry-free factors that feeds flora, flora feed carnivores, people eat carnivores and the cycle maintains. nicely, it really is the actual element of it. Spiritually, there is not any means to imagine previous demise. some trust they guard the values and ideology of the fellow, yet no longer their recommendations. So for this reason a spirit without recommendations is merely an empty vessel with pre-programmed training. counting on your beliefs, in case you're Christian you pass to heaven or hell, in case you believed in reincarnation, you get reincarnated into yet another vessel. Or even if, do not exist, do not imagine, darkness, no sense of time, etc which may scare the crap out of anybody. It quite relies upon on what you've faith in.

Dying after having lived a fulfilling life.
Dying after contributing something meaningful and/or lasting to humanity.

Martyrdom would be nice. Of course, it's usually incredibly painful, but you get mad props. Who knows, your followers may even start a religion for you.
