Kids in the womb listening to classical music have higher IQ..

Then again, rock n' roll might have the same effects..

It's about stimulation, the human body adapts to the environmental needs..

I don't think music shapes your personality at all. I think the type of personality you have makes you inclined to like certain types of music. One effect of the music you hear at an early age, though, is that you will like it for the rest of your life. Each generation continues to like the music it grew up with through their lives.
Your personality is a combination of inherited traits and is influenced by your upbringing. And, by the way, this question should be in Psychology, not Philosophy.

listening to a broad range of music gives one breadth of taste, and the appreciation, thereof, as it applies to many other things.

because then your familiar with the tune and it shows your personality. I listened to all sorts of music when i was little, so I'm familiar with anything except for metal and really weird songs no one has heard of. and I'm now known for knowing stuff ;)

i would say it shapes your mind through exposure to diffrent thought patterns on various subjects that you might not have been exposed to otherwise.
