My prevailing impression is that the "solid" world of the senses amounts to a virtual, but somehow shared, existence that only seems real because each of us has no other baseline with which to compare it. What is really real seems to lie beyond our present capabilities of apprehension -- except perhaps via meditation. (While this stance encourages a less distressed perspective upon world events, it offers little in the way of satisfying the quest for a solid "floor" upon which a life can be reliably structured.)
