Is it easy to learn if you've never touched a guitar in your life? What's the hardest thing about playing guitar? What's the easiest? Tell me everything you think is good for a beginner guitarist to know.

I found out that my oboe had become mia in the beginning of the month. I don't know what to do. The police can't do anything about it because the company I bought it from did not put the serial number on the reciept. I was going to school for this, and I feel like my entire career has been shattered. I've thought about going to school part time this semester and using my extra loan money to buy an new one, but I'm not sure if that is the best idea either. I've thought about changing my major to something else, but I can't pull myself to doing it. I'm poor so I can't pull an oboe out of the air; I feel like I've been left with no options but to quit or get a new oboe with my loan money. I'm clueless as to what the right decision is here. If there is anyone out there who has any suggestions at all please help me.

I have an acoustic guitar and I really know nothing about them...all of my strings, but two, broke and I took the strings off completely...I called a local music store and he said it would be any where from $25-$45, plus strings which at $8.75. He said it would be better for me to get it fixed than to try it myself...what should I do?

Plus, does anyone know of any comedy clubs in Sussex , UK which do open mike nights?

Thankyou!

My husband knows how to play the bass, and he is starting to learn how to play the guitar. He and I talked about how nice it would be to be able to play together and we figured bass guitar was a good way to start. Now I am looking to find some help on getting started.

Im not shure what i should learn next in guitar- i can read music- play chords: C, D, E, F, G, A, Bb, B, Em, Am, Fm,

I can play and sing to songs that use any of these chords, so what should i learn now? Obviously, i should learn some mor minor chords, but what else?

Btw, i've taught myself

Hey, this question is meant as a refuge for experienced guitarists. Top five guitarists of all time. I start, you follow with your picks and back it up. Best argument wins!

Also, please refrain from answering if you're fourteen, don't play guitar, and try to name the lead guitarist of My Chemical Romance or something...I will cop to the fact that my own metal leanings influence my list.

1. Randy Rhoads-He only made it to 25, but his mixture of classical and metal sensibilities has always appealed to me.

2. Jimmy Page-Very elegant playing, but a progenitor of melodic heavy stuff as well.

3. Slash-He may only know his major and minor pentatonic scales, but he wails on them about as well as anybody.

4. Django Reinhardt-Pure technical ability. Just listen to an ancient recording of the man and realize that he just made up and down an acoustic guitar faster than you can blink with a disfigured fret hand.

5. Alexi Laiho-My only modern pick. He's bringing back technically sound metal.

Hi, well to make a long story short, my parents aren't letting me do colorguard for my junior year. I've done colorguard my freshmen year and marching band during my sophomore year and during those two seasons, my grade average was above a 3.5. I think they're mainly concerned with SAT's but they also think colorguard is a waste of them. I've been trying to convince them that I need an extra-curric. activity because colleges like it if you have an "outside life" other than just focusing on school work. However, my parents don't think it's worth sacrificing grades for colorguard, even though my grades are fine. Does anyone have any suggestions to help convince my parents?

I still want to be a musician, even though I've never been famous. I am OLD, in my mid 40's, but can still make soundtracks and other such things and know I am good enough, because peopel say so, and mostly aren't kidding.
I've been playing guitar for over thirty years and started on the Violin when I was five. Flute for 15 years.. I don''t write anything, (thank God you'd probably not want to hear it), but I just enjoy playing cover tunes, just mu old favorites to share... The reason I've really applied myself over the last five years especially, is because i was sick of my records and CD's always being ripped off, so decided just to learn and play the stuff instead, in order to keep it that way..
Would someone like you be embarrassed to hear an older person play and sing music, the way a kid probably would?. I'm just a 'late bloomer' musician, but is that OK?
