Hello everyone . I am twenty-six years old and I want to become a stan-up comedian. I would like to know if I am too old and if it is too late to do so?

Plus, does anyone know of any comedy clubs in Sussex , UK which do open mike nights?

Thankyou!

No, it is not too late. I used to date a stand-up comedian, so here are some tips:

1. Never, ever, ever appear as though you are stealing a joke. This is the absolute taboo.
2. You will probably start by mc'ing a show if someone has heard your act and liked it. Go along with the mc'ing. It gets your face, name and jokes out there.
3. Be prepared to travel. Most comics will go just about anywhere to do a show.
4. Get a signed contract for the dollar amount. Have attorneys look at them until you are able to cut through some of the b.s. yourself.
5. Rework your act all the time, especially if you play in the same place fairly often. This will keep you "fresh" and interesting.
6. Do not pick out the blonde girlfriend of one of the other comics and make her the butt of jokes. It is mean, and she may start to cry! :)

Have fun!

If this is Andrew, then you suck at comedy and you need to stick to being a police officer. I hated your comedy show. It was dumb as hell. BUT! If you are not Andrew then I suggest you look for you angle. what makes you set apart from all other comedians. Ask yourself what makes Larry the cable guy so like able or Louis black? They all have there own styles. You gotta find that little special something that makes you better than all the rest. After that record some stuff and put it on youtube. after a while you could get like 300,000 views and you will get noticed and be on your way.

When you find a club go try being a stand-up comedian and see what the response is. If you can grow from it and keep going back, you will find out if it is going to be your next career.

I say go for it...you are still a young woman. Some people never attempt any of their dreams/goals and live a bitter life because of it. Step out on faith and make it happen.

Good Luck!

It's never too late to do something we want to do. Go for it!

Since I live in the USA, I can't help with the second part of your question.

Good luck to you!

You are young enough. But consider this: Anyone can fake being serious, but no one can fake being funny.
