I'm starting to think about career options and i took this test and it said i should do either communications/arts, government, or teaching. i think i would have to go with the first one and the only way i would teach is if i taught music lessons. i love music and i play the piano, clarinet, and the cello plus i would like to learn how to play the guitar soon. i am also in marching band. and i am really good at all of them. but what kind of lifestyle would i have? you know, when i moved out? any current musicians? what kind of jobs are available? what's it like? all people welcome but musicians prefered.

In a lot of place now they are cutting the budgets and funding for music and art classes and I want to know what people think about the situation. Whether they should cut the programs or are the programs actually beneficial.

Im real big into screamo and the whole punk music thing and Im in a band but I want to 1.) learn how to scream in a way similar to underoath and the used and also be able to maintain if not improve my singing voice. Ive been singing for over 10 years and this is my new journey. I feel a real passion for the music and performing it is nothing like performing any other type of music. How can I train myself to scream though? I can kind of do it but its low and choppy..sounds rather eek. And also..how can I improve my vocal range while singing? I may be asking alot here but I do appreciate all the help you guys can give me. Thanks. (PS-be on the look out for Blood For Blondie..especially if these tips work lol)

I am a Saxophonist in the UK. I need some dental work done to straighten out my bottom front teeth. I would prefer to use a dentist that has worked with woodwind musicians before, as this operation could affect my playing severely if done wrong, or given bad advice.

I have gone through "British Association for Performing Arts Medicine" but they could only recommend a private dentist, and unfortunately I don't think I can afford the fees. :-(

Can anyone recommend an NHS dentist that has worked on woodwind players? (NHS is free as I am a student), Or perhaps a private dentist that has worked on woodwind players?

If anyone can recommend a source of funding to students or musicians for private health/dental care, also, please get in touch.

Many thanks!!!
Kind regards
C

The piano piece in question, for those who happen to know it, is J. N. Hummel's Sonata in Eb. It was an exam piece for ABRSM Grade 8 in '01-'02, and is too difficult for its grade. When I play it, my fingers sometimes tense up to the point of spasming. This leads to my semiquavers being very uneven. How can I curb this?
