definitely a textbook. it is a safe and not too creative, but its right on the money-- and it's the timeless choice for an artifact that represents the college experience. In 2006, other items that represent the experience are an mp3 player, especially an ipod. A laptop. If you would like to take a comedic approach, a redbull energy drink would be cute.

The hackey sack or whatever is being used now.
That one person late to class running through an otherwise calm scene.
Taking a food item from a shelf and "sizing it up" to see if you'll keep it.
Dressing like a fusion 60's / 00's "hippie" (and of course sitting on the quad).

depends on what u did at college, if u studied all the time, bring a text book, if you partied, bring a beer mug that has a college logo on it (a nice alternative to a bong), could bring a football ticket from your school, if u went to a big school that loved their football(and if you liked football), or if your desperate make a collage of pictures with your friends
