I was assigned an oral presentation about Bob Marley's accomplishments and musical contribution. I could'nt find an answer to the pioneering issue on his web site. Some people think that I just don't get it, well probably it's because I don't belong to his generation. If anybody can help me with an answer I would appreciate that a lot.

I'm singing a song in a performance. Its a great song, sung by a female, so its within my range. The thing is that it switches from my lower range to my higher range (choir wise I'm a first soprano) in th emiddle of the song. The switch sounds -to me at least- bad, becuase I start out the verse sounding rough and rockish, and end in the higher notes, where my voice is very smooth and not typical of rock.

So... are there any ways to disguise the obvious swith between ranges? Any general suggestions on how to get a better sound? Thanks so much!

Am I getting old or is the pressure to conform stifling art. I'm just listening to Simon and Garfunkel's greatest hits, which is a very good album! In a more modern environment - Eminem is extremely talented for example so it's not all bad news. Am I on my own or do other people believe that modern artists are suffering increasingly effective oppression, which is being expressed by a lack of musical art in the commercial environment? Does commerce (and the bullshit no-knowledge young management) need to back off? What do you you guys think?

Performed between 1956 and 1959.The future Nobel Literature Lauriate accompanied himself on guitar.A record of the same song was heard on the radio many years ago. It is not 'Eating people is wrong' as sung by Flanders and Swan.I think that Barry Cryer was on the same bill. What is the song & whose record?

Is there a program that can read and play (in any form) sheet music, or even just the lengths of the notes, that I scan, or enter manually, into my computer? I play by ear and memory very quickly, but as a result, don't read timing very fluently. I can write in and learn the notes easily enough, but need to be sure I learn the timing correctly, (i.e., a dotted quarter note and eighth note, vs. 2 quarter notes) and will have trouble "un"-memorizing it, if I assume and practice the timing wrong, without hearing it. These are hymns in my church, most of which I have never heard and am not yet familiar with. Thanks

Funny men and story tellers such as Bill Cosby and Garrison Keillor seem to be the exception to the rule, but almost every comedian I've seen recently on channels like HBO and Comedy Central seem to have jokes just peppered with more four-letter words than I can count. Other than shock value, is there a reason that that comics would want barrage their fans with this brand of humor when the jokes would be just as funny without the "extra" words? I'm not out to censor what people want to hear, but can anyone name a successful comic that has a "clean" act?
