Without conductors, orchestras would still be fine just the way they are 200 years back. Early orchestras didn't generally have conductors; a violinist or keyboard player would start and stop the group. No conductor is great at every kind of music.♥

Orchestras originally were conductorless. The concertmaster first violinist was looked to to keep things in good order. Some orchestras are still conductorless.

Felix Mendelssohn is usually considered the first real conductor in the modern sense.

an orchestra can play a piece perfectly fine without a conductor. ...but the music will sound regular.

what a conductor does is give the music personality.

Nothing much !!! In fact I jave seen many good and pleasant Orchestras without conductors !!! That can be as impressive as with the one in it !!! Believe me!

That would be chaos but im not saying it wouldnt work, the orchestras got to be really good.

the orchestra would go to pieces. they wouldn't be able to stay together as well.
