I recently saw an unique piece of jewelry. it was what looked to be an old watch case and under the glass was a vintage looking miniature teddy bear w/ a bow. on the back of the case was inscribed AJC CO. 1/20 12k. has any one ever heard of anything like this, or the company AJC, who made the case.

Is it a "morning" music, or "night?"

Some kinds of music enervate us and others make us relax. I wonder whether Mozart is useful as background music when I am working? Or when I am meditating?

My daughter is 12 years old and would like to try modeling. She is often told that she should try because she is tall for her age, 5'7" and quite slender. Takes after her dad. Anyway, she went to one of those Barbizon presentations, but it seems like a lot of money for "training". Is this necessary? We live in the Chicago area. Please respond only if you have knowledge on the subject. Thanks!

STraight up, just tell me what you think. I don't discriminate. Lemme know which you like best, any why (but only if u wanna share!)

Love's Lacking Cry

I never thought I'd have to push and shove,
just for a bit of my father's love.
He never called me 'Daddy's little girl",
Never spun me in a childish twirl.
He never read me a tale from my favorite story book,
Never helped me make a clubhouse in a small corner nook.
He never danced with me in the rain,
Never kissed away the pain.
He never took me to the rink to skate,
But now its too late.

He never crossed the street, and held my hand tight,
never chased away the monsters in the middle of the night.
He never looked at me in awe with pride,
never came to comfort me when I cried.
So how come I feel his arms around me,
after he's died?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~...
Life's Like That
Cold and grey,
your hair blown astray.
Flustered lost,a windswept sunhat.
It may be confusing, but life's like that.
Nervous with jitters,
heart's butterflies flitter.
perhaps your shy, oh what a drat.
Left in the shadows, life's like that.
Crazy with worry, feeling insane,
riding around, on an non-stopping train.
Not sure of where you're going,or even where you're at,
spun like a spinner, life's like that.
Not feeling well, full of regret.
your feelings are obvious, by your brow full of sweat,
full of remorse, you feel small as a gnat.
It's merely human nature, because life's like that.
Now you're happy and elated,
aren't you glad that you waited?
A tire lacking air, my poem's gone flat.
So here's the happy ending, because life's sometimes like that.
sunset bows to the curtain of night,
humbled by a vain blanket of stars.
a lunar spell entrances the sea,
as still air mocks my sails and my scars.
one last night in this casket adrift,
upon currents unkind and too far from home.
salt in my nose,
damp in my shoes.
surrounded by life,
yet forever alone.
bring us the last thimble of wine.
we'll drink up a toast to our bitter defeat,
raising our chalice to the vulture's prey,
to sweeten our meat for the carrion feast.
I would like to know if someone could tell me if the producers of the Simpsons show pay the rights to use famous people's names, and also the names and everything else from things like magazzines, restaurants, etc. I've seen that in some cases, they use a different name, instead of the real one, when mentioning something, for example, there's an episode where Homer reads Reader's Digest, but they used a different name for the mag; do you know why? Why didn't the just used the original name? Thanks a lot!
Literature usually portrays characters as having an internal conflict. The same applies to real life people. How does Pete Rose's character flaw turn into a tragic flaw?
So much time,
So much wasted effort,
all for nothing.
You weren't ready Nick,
You mislead me,
Now I have no patience
We are through.
please comment on this poem i wrote
A MORTAL'S CONTENTMENT
A mortal ,
shunned by all ,
was struck upon by the unworded wrath ,
of his worshipped Goddess.
Witnessing her serene grace,
turn into the fires of hell,
left him sorrowful to his very soul.
Blessed and chosen he felt later although ,
for Instead of being ignored as dust ,
was enshrined ,
not in her hallowed heart ,
but at least momentarily in her enraged thoughts .
I’ve heard many lies.
This is the worst.
To build up an ego.
And just let it burst.
I went in the world,
believing your words,
Took a step out the door,
and was shot down like a bird.
How can you stand it?
Telling such things.
To build up an ego,
and give mankind wings.
I'd also like some ideas on titles....thanks in advance!
And try to interpret it, please.
The Power of One
With the strength of a million
I shall fight
Every heart, every soul
I’ll ignite.
With the vigor of a thousand
I shall win
I’ll escape the lies
I’ve buried within.
With the force of a hundred
I shall rule
My heart so kind
Yet, my mind so cruel.
With the might of ten
I shall prevail
I’ll overcome my fears
I’ll never fail.
With the power of one
I shall survive
In this corrupted world
I’ll remain alive.
I like to do bits and peices, sometimes quite complicated pictures on Microsoft paint, but feel guilty calling this art. Do you think a picture produced using a computer by just any old one can be art? Am I being silly referring to it as art. I'm not an artist, but then what is an artist?
