Get a copy of Writer's Market (you can even just read it at thelibrary or bookstore) and submit your manuscript to whichever publishers are open for submissions. Make sure to choose a publisher based on what type of book you have written because it is extremely unprofessional to send a horror novel to a publisher that only publishes romance novels and vice versa. Plus it is a waste of your postage. Make sure you write a really great cover letter. Some publishers will not look at a manuscript without an agent. Some agents won't look at your manuscript without a query letter.

Do your research. Then start doing what your research shows you should do.

Get the book Writers Market, and look where the companies say they accept unsolicited manuscripts, or how to submit. Also read which companies do not ask you to contrib. to the publishing, for these are vanity presses to be avoided.

Another way is to self publish and then on a myspace page for example, upload the offer the book for people to download for a fee. You keep most of the money. Make sure work is copywritten.
