I'm looking for my families coat of arms. I've seen it before when my uncle showed it to me, but I can't track it down online.

There is a knight on each side, a hand coming out of the top holding a sword. It's red and white in color if I remember correctly. Also, the knights are holding large axes or halbreds. The last detail I remember is there are symbols that look like Fleur de Lisse's (sp?)

Thanks in advance if anyone knows anything about it.

I have census information for my ancestor from the 1840 through 1870 census. They lived in Franklin County, Pennsylvania. I want to try to figure out where exactly they lived. Is there any way to do this?

Thank you.

To answer the query about Angus simpson's death certificate: Here are the details
Residence Address: 2619 N. Troy died 24th October 1966
Aged about 69. Social Security number 336 01 6979
occupation: unknown
Business: Unknown
Married, divorced, widowed: Unknown
Date of Birth: Unknown
Informant of death: Victor B. Miclut (friend)
Cause of death: Acute Coronary Occlusion
Funeral Directors: Joseph Maloney Inc
2950 W. Fullerton
Chicago 47 Illinois Number: 5949

This is all taken from the death certificate so they did not know much about my poor Grandfather. I do however have his date of birth and what I really would love to know is what he did with his life. Did he marry again, what was his main employment? What happened to his brother John Simpson (Known in the family as Jock)
Are there any children. Maybe he was divorced and the family did not want to know him. Perhaps they might like to know that he had 6 Grandchildren and 19 Great Grandchildren in the UK

Looking up some ancestors online, I've noticed several things, that not only is sourcing limited in many cases, but assumptions seem to be made, such as the great grandson of my 5 times great grandfather having the same middle name, and speculation on my 5x great grandfather's father's name. Variations on dates, as well, though I understand that more.

My questions are, shouldn't the people who make these pages be obligated to give sources as well as the reasoning for their claims? I have no idea if my 6 x great grandfather was named George or Alexander, how someone else does, I don't know, and am not sure they do either.

What other errors are made in genealogy pages?

I like studying the origins of surnames and all names...I know Sherman is British, but I also heard it was Jewish, right?
How many Jews than non-Jews have this name?
It is possible for non-Jews to have this name as well, right? Those who are British, but aren't Jewish?
And I noticed that this name ends in "man" like most Jewish names.

And what are its good points compared to the other programs? And, if you're not using software, how do you keep it all organized?

If you're a veteran from the old days, what's missing in computer software that you'd like to see?

Best sound-off, genealogical smack, or ranting rave wins 10 points.

PS: I have yet to meet an experienced genealogist who has less opinions than the number of people on their family tree...go ahead and rant...

I've been looking for any hint of a passenger list for my Polish ancestors for a few years now (trying Ancestry, Steven Morris' Search Engine, and Germans & Russian to America), but am hoping someone with fresh eyes might have a better chance. Homestead records say Jan 1873 arrival in NY - but no trace. Children: Frances, Mary, & Alex and possibly Elizabeth. Parents born abt 1846.
Other poss spellings of name Kaspersyck, Kasprzyk, and with a C.
They homesteaded in Grant Co, South Dakota. I have no record or sign of a residence before the Dakotas.
