I am wondering just how a picture shows you are Cherokee...I am Cherokee and I don't look like the Stereotypical "Indian" so how can you tell???
YOU are the one who will have to do the work, you have to do the Genealogy of the family starting with yourself and working back.
If your goal is to become a member of one of the Federally Recognized Cherokee Nations....Good Luck In order to do that you have to provide PROOF that you have an ancestor that is listed on either the Dawes Roll or the Baker Roll. If you can't to that then forget it.
Now if you only want to satisfy your personal questions about your ancestry you still have to do some genealogy. You may never find the answers you are looking for. It took me over 25 years to track my Cherokee ancestors. So this could be a lifeling ambition for you.
If you want some help from other in your situation there are many Yahoo groups that deal with Native American Genealogy and culture.

If you know your biological mothers maiden name and your fathers name then you can take this info along with your photos to an appointment with the Bureau of Indian Affairs. If you know any information at all about anyone that is in your family it would help. But the Bof IA can help you a lot in finding your ancestors and any family out there that may still be alive and to get you some assistance in getting your indian benefits. You could also call your local library branch and speak with the head librarian and she could tell you where to start to find some information. Good luck and what a wonderful project! I hope you have a lot of fun with it and get many laughs out of all the surprises you will run across in your search!

Start with your birth certificate, and work your way back. There are also many sites to help with tracing your family heritage. The unfortunate thing with the Cherokee and many other tribes was that while the tribes were being pushed west, especially during the time of the Trail of Tears, many changed tribal or clan associations to try to avoid being herded into the reservations. All it takes is one name to begin your search. I hope for success on your journey.

If you don't have any paperwork you probably will not get anywhere.
As far as pictures, in old Hollywood Cowboy and Indian movies all the actors who played the role of Indians were usually Italians so photos will not be very convincing.

a great explanation relating to Cherokee enrollment or research.
As far as I am aware.. the tribe does not DO the research for you. It is your responsibility to do that.
