I have census information for my ancestor from the 1840 through 1870 census. They lived in Franklin County, Pennsylvania. I want to try to figure out where exactly they lived. Is there any way to do this?

Thank you.

This film from the LDS should be able to help you:
Mortgage books, 1811-1868
Authors Franklin County (Pennsylvania). Register of Deeds

Census records from that era listed everyone by tract, not address. You may find the name of the road in the far left column, but that wasn't universally done. But in an era when most people owned their homes, the Register of Deeds is the place to start.

Each year shows different data. They all show state, county and city/township. Some show a post office or district within the city. Start with that and then check county records to find any existing land and property records.

The census records themselves list the address. Perhaps you have only seen the summaries.
