It's French-Canadian and the original spelling was Lezeau. You can use two tools, the Loiselle Marriage Index and the PRDH from the Universite de Montreal, to track the family back to Pierre Lezeau and Andre Loiseau. For several generations in your family it will probably be spelt Loiseau and Layzeau. Even in the early days of the colony, there were multiple spellings of the name used. In PRDH they standardize all variants to Loiseau.

Loiselle Marriage Index films can be ordered from your local Family History Center.

It's almost certainly French. It may be a version of L'Oiseau (meaning 'the bird').
