Cochran? I just wanted to know, since I'm part Irish, and that would be my last name still, if my mom wouldnt have gotten married, I just wanted to see if anyone from my family in Europe was on here, b/c I've never met them before. By the way, I live in America, and I'm coming to Europe this month.

I am looking up our Family's history. I know my Grandad was born in northern Italy and came from a small village near the Piedmont mountains between Italy and France. He was a sheep herder and a fisherman. The name of the village according to older relatives was San Vale. They claim they are considered San Valese. I would like to know if anyone is familiar with this village in Italy.
Thanks!

Ok, so my mom's maiden name is Costello.

First question: What nationality do you think of when you say that name?

Mom's Irish as is her last name bt everybody thinks it's Italian or Spanish and pronounces it the same. Which would be fine if that were our heritage.

Second question: Do any of you have or know somebody who has thins last name, and what is you nationality?

Both born in Kent, England. Emigrated to USA 1912. (Camden, New Jersey)
Ivy married Albert Hennis Menz, Olive, known as Phylis, married someone surnamed James. Maybe American records are more accessible . Ivy died in August 1986. Phylis sometime before this.
Thanks to all the people who have answered, but I still don't have the parents!

Ok. here's the deal. I am in the process of adopting a little boy (16mon) I've already adopted his older 2 brothers, however right before his paperwork was sent to our lawyer we hit a roadblock. In his file they found out that he has a Sioux Indian blood line in his bfamily. Our CW said that b/c we don't know the blood quantum and that it could cause issues down the road that we HAVE to get permission from the tribe before we go any further. Ok, fine, I'm cool w/ that, it just may take a bit longer than we had anticipated. However, as I was talking w/ my dad about why my son's adoption was put on hold, my dad brings up the fact that my grandfather is 3/4 Sioux. Which makes me Sioux as well. I NEVER knew that! Now I'm curious and want to know more! My dad didn't have many answers for me and since my granddad is very old now he is unable to answer my questions. How do I find out more about my new heritage?

My grandfather and grandmother are 89, and we just scanned in hundreds of their old photos, and am making a DVD slideshow of their life and the lives of their 150 or so descendants.

Music?

What is the origin and nationality of this surname? It does not come up in any of the typical "ancestry" search engines, unless you want to pay over $100.00 for a subscription.

I have this beautiful family tree with over 1000 ancestors. The problem is, on some of them that I have birth/death location on, I have only part of the Information on the location.

Like with my Mother who was born in 1932 (no census info. yet) I know she was born in Boswell, Oklahoma. The state has changed since 1932 and I can't find out if Boswell was the town or county. If it was the town, I would like to know what county it was in.

It would be nice if there were a site that you could just input what you know and it gives you the Information that is missing.
Is there such a place or am I just dreaming?

Where is a good place to get started? I have no idea where to start. I already asked my father for as many names and birth places as he can remember of his family. I don't mind paying a site, but I want it to be worth the money. I've also heard the Mormons are really good at this stuff. Should I contact them?
