I have to do a project on my family tree for English class, but it seems that everytime I think I have some sort of lead towards my ancestry I hit a dead end. Besides talking with relatives and without spending any money, are there any websites or archives you would reccomend for finding more out about my ancestry? Give me any tips you can think of. Also...is it possible to get any information with a person's name birth/death date and SSN?

Not your nationality. Ethnicity. Which is where your ancestors came from. Fo example: I'm half Koeran, a quater German and a quarter Swedish. (The answer isn't American unless you're native American Indian.)

I found out when I was in high school that my aunt had a daughter when she was about 18 that she adopted out. That would mean that my cousin would have been born about 1971 in or around Edinburg, Texas. The adopted parents contacted my parents to find out more about my aunt, and told my parents that she was attending Sam Houston State University in Texas (near Houston) and that she looked a lot like my aunt, but didn't give her name. Considering my aunt's sometimes bizarre behavior, it is unlikely they told this girl who her mother was. I have tried searching for birth records in Texas using my aunt's maiden name, but couldn't find anything. My aunt has been married about 5 times, so it is possible that I am using the wrong name. I would really like to find out who this person is and possibly contact her. I just don't know how to refine my search any more. My aunt isn't exactly on speaking terms with the family so contacting her has led nowhere.

One of my ancestors James William Skinner - born 1854 Berkshire England, father William mother Emma Kemp - emigrated to Australia from England sometime after 1913.
He took with him two of his sons, William and Peter. I am not sure exactly when the boys were born, their mother was Harriet Ellen Webb.

I believe that Peter died shortly after arriving, I think he would have been in his early twenties. William survived and went on to own a clothing factory in a district of Sydney called Carlton.

William married, to someone named Estelle I think, but could be wrong there.

I have tried looking for records online but can find nothing, there are probably more sites available but I do not know of them.

Any help would be much appreciated.
Thank you.

All I know about my families surnames are:
Akerman
Franks
Smith

I am looking to find out where my ancestors origionated from. We are all blonde or red-haired with button noses, blue eyes. Pair-shaped women, very pale skin and short stature (around 5"2 for the girls), curvy figures and small feet, but unusually strong, particularly large upper-arm muscles and a constitution able to deal with alcohol, drugs and other inhibitiors in high levels; no allergies common to the family, and no history of heart disease or any other serious illnesses or hereditary conditions.

I've spent 25 years pronouncing my surname (Roehmholdt) as rome-holt, but I've only recently found variations of my surname and traced it back to its various German forms, they are:

Röhmholdt
Rehmholdt
Röhmholt
Rehmholt

I'm trying to narrow down how my surname has changed since my ancestors came to the US from Germany. A Google search finds evidence of a "Röhmholdt", but I'd love to know the history of the surname. Cheers!
