this is a list of resources for adoptees.
I STRONGLY urge you to work with some of these, where you can network with others who have experience in this topic.
Just hunting your birth parents and 'surprising' them would be extremely impulsive, and very possibly lead to hurt/ anger that you don't want. Each of them likely have current families, who may know nothing about you.
Go slow.

I am 65 yrs old and had a son 46 yrs ago that I gave up for adoption. I even wrote a short story titled: "Something Was Missing". I had to find him. I searched for years. I finally did alot of thinking about ways to find him. I sent for his original birth certificate and when I received it, it had the adoptive parents name and address on it. I went to that address, but they had moved, so I started knocking on doors asking about where they might have moved. I finally found a neighbor who remembered them and provided me with info on where the mother worked. And from there with a little detective work on my part I was able to find him. Don't give up. You can try ... www.zabasearch.com In those days there were no computers to help me. Good luck. We all "need" to know.
