I know it's a dance, but I've only hear its name, never seen it danced. I've also read http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maxixe_%28dance%29 and http://dance.stanford.edu/syllabi/maxixe.htm It says that somehow maxixe is a relative to both tango and samba. I'm familiar with both Tango and Samba (as well as with many other ballroom and latin dances). Now I'm very curoius what the maxixe music would be like, and what the dancing would look like. Does anyone know?

Hi!!
I am very shy when it comes to dancing, but I would love to be able to dance when I go out clubbing with my boyfriend. Is there any tapes I can buy that will help me boost up my confidence because I have tried to dance, and it really turns out horrible. I try to copy other people too, but that does not work either...it is embarrassing. I feel pretty discouraged to go out clubbing with my boyfriend because of this! I really need some help!!

Out of curiosity, how many dancers here study (or have studied) a dance form that they have no cultural connection to? I'm a girl whose entire family is from Western Europe, and I've been taking Bhahratanatyam (a type of classical Indian dance) for almost 2 years now. I find it fascinating and love it, even though I'm not Indian. What about the rest of you? How did you get interested in your type of dance? What were your experiences when you expressed an interest in learning the dance?

I started dancing at age 3, I quit when I was 10. But now at age 14 I've decided to join again. My teacher doesn't know which class to put me in, so its up to me. On tuesday I tried a beginner's class for ballet and jazz. I had fun even though I knew all the steps and stretches. And it helps me get better with tecnique. On wednesday I tried a more advanced class (ballet/ tap/ jazz), the same one I would be in if I never quit. It wasn't as fun and it was harder. Everyone was so serious and knew exactly what they were doing. I felt weird. My mom and teacher think I would be able to catch up quickly in the more advanced class, and I think I could too, and the challange would be good for me. But it's not as fun to me as the begginer's class. I don't know which class to choose! I know it's really all up to me, but id like to hear some other people's opinions. Thanks

My parents made me quit dancing because they said it wasted our time and money. I love to dance, and i did so for eight years. They made me quit two years ago, and i don't know how to tell them that i want to dance again, without them saying no. i have no idea what to say or do. My dad sort of understands, but my mom doesnt at all.

I don't dance, period! I don't see any percentage in it. I have a collection of CDs with that famous Beach Music. I think its better than our California Beach Music in many ways.

Something is holding me back from doing things like in ballet and I cannot be as graceful, I'm not sure if it's in my arms or my back but does anyone have effective stretches for both. Oh yes shoulders too. I'm guessing it's because of cheer and the stiffness.
