Hello.
Tapes, friends helping, trying to copy other people... it can only go so far. What you could use right now is some real training to gain some confidence with moving your body. Try salsa classes, they're usually very reasonably priced. Ballroom dancing helps with everything from balance to hip motion to arm styling, bellydancing can loosen you up and release your inner woman (and you won't need a partner if you don't feel comfortable with one yet!) and hip hop/modern dancing gives you a repertoire of moves to work with.
Many people will say "It's just dancing", "Just feel the rhythm", "It all comes from the inside" etc. I bet you've heard all that a thousand times. It's fine advice, but most people are very self-conscious about how they move and about dancing, especially in public. Other were never really athletic. I was always a bookworm with no experience in anything dance related, and now I'm a ballroom dance teacher. :D
Try to find a fun dance class that you can attend once a week. You will gain confidence and self-esteem and you'll be able to bring your own flavour to your dancing.
Best of luck,
Ellie

Dancing at clubs is supposed to be fun and just flow. Don't worry about how you look because chances are they won't remember it because they either won't see you again or will drink too much and forget everything. Just get up on the floor and move to the music! If you want, look at how other girls are dancing and try to copy them.

Well, when you are not confident and think you cannot dance, it certainly shows. Pretend like it means nothing to you, when you aren't so worried and paying so much attention to it and freaking out, you are sure to look like a goof-ball. Sorry that I don't know of anyplace you could find that, but just love yourself, and dance how you wanna. I honestly don't think someone is going to make fun of you or even remember, just have fun with it and let loose!

First you need rythm. Try swaying side to side and and a little twist of the hips. a little though. snap to the beat. Then when your feelin in move your hips a little more and move your body more. And some arm movement in it. Then your dancin. Everyone has their way fo dancing unique. Heres a dance move from a video:
Lean left, right hand at head, push head left, then come together.

Don't care what other people think. Be yourself and your boyfriend would like you for who you are, not how you dance.

Just do the best you can. In my opinion, it's not a productive activity that's worth investing much time in. I also think that the less you into the clubs, the better. They're not that great of places, again in my opinion.
