When I was about 8 years old, I started taking ballet lessons on a scholarship at a really prestigious school. I was never a serious or motivated child, so after one bad lesson, I quit. In high school, I realized how much I loved dancing and was serious about it. Ever since freshman year (I'm 19 now) I've been regretting taking ballet at an earlier age. I've taken lessons ever since but none were formal instruction, so I'm not very good. Some other girls who were in my class turned out to be gorgeous, talented dancers. Because of my love of dance, I can't seem to forgive myself for quitting those lessons when I was 8. Any suggestions?

No particular reason for this question, except that I'm curious. :) I've learned and danced both East and West Coast swing. I like both of them, but I definitely have a preference. However, I'm not going to explain it yet, because I don't want to bias anyone else's answers.

Please tell me which swing style you prefer, and also your reasons why. Thanks and happy holidays! :)

I am in process of acquiring a prestigious degree in economics (even though I'm in my 1st year, I've already started disliking economics. Boooored), and the only joy in my life lately is learning to dance salsa at weekly salsa classes. Now I enjoy it so much that I find myself simply dancing in the street while walking.

And yeah, my friends diss me because of it, while my family pressure me and don't approve my newly found passion. They want me to become an investment banker and make lots of $$$

So what is your opinion?

The instruction in both the Cha Cha Slide and the Juke Slide is to "Charlie Brown" or to "Do the Brown". What kind of move is that? If someone has a link of an example, thatd help too!

My niece Veronica is 19 and she does not wear panties or a bra under her leotard and tights. She says that her dance teacher told her that she is not supposed to wear anything under her leotard and tights. She told her that they are designed to be worn without panties or a bra. My concern is that some of these outfits seem very revealing and she does not like to wear anything over them when she is going to and from her classes.

I really want to start competing in latin and ballroom dance competitions. People have told me I have potential. I am an amateur (5'5, 128lbs) and am in need of finding a good coach and partner. I'm not totally sure about how to go about this or where to start looking. Any Ideas?

I would imagine he would have to face teasing from peers (unfortunately), etc. This sounds like a stupid question, but I'm curious to hear from male dancers why they decided to persue ballet.

I know most ballet schools have certain dress codes and stuff but I want to know all the fads that have happened in your ballet school, whether it's wearing tights on the arms or special colored legwarmers or what to wear in your hair, whatever! Let me know. :D thanks.
