SWING dancers! Do you prefer East or West Coast? And why?

Question

No particular reason for this question, except that I'm curious. :) I've learned and danced both East and West Coast swing. I like both of them, but I definitely have a preference. However, I'm not going to explain it yet, because I don't want to bias anyone else's answers.

Please tell me which swing style you prefer, and also your reasons why. Thanks and happy holidays! :)

I prefer ECS - it is a lot more widespread, not that many people from East Coast dance WCS at all. ECS is a foundation dance - once you learn ECS you can easily learn Jive or Lindy and many other forms of swing. It is more universal in this sence. WCS is different from other forms. For me, ECS is almost like Jive, and Jive is what I really like. I have a lot more training in Jive than in ECS or WCS, and I think we tend to like what we do well. I like the music for ESC much better than WCS.

It seems that people tend to like WCS more at an early stage, because ECS in its basic form is a bit boring. As one progresses into a level in which both are varied, that difference disappears. So I'm left with the tempo, and reserve WCS for the slower tempi.

WCS ALL THE WAY! ECS is too repetitive and boring. WCS can be done fast, slow and to any style of music swing, country rap, pop. It's the dance to do if you're wanting to express yourself on the dance floor. :)

mmmmm, I have more ECS than WCS experience.
I like ECS more
I have more available partners for ECS.
I have danced it to all different types of music.
I love to dance! I just do not get enough dancing.

I like WCS but then I'm in my 50's so slower seems best to me lol. I can't jive anymore lol.

I learned WC so I prefer that.
