If my opinion is based on 1 persons view, then it's not really my opinion right? But if I come to my own conclusions, based on reading several other peoples knowledge and opinions, then can I truly call it "My Opinion"?

i would say theses are.

what is life?

what is the meaning of life?

how will the world end?

god vs evolution?

i think the above questions are shallow and incredibly unoriginal. they are also very boring. it seems like alot of people on this forum are driven by emotions when in reality philosophy is about intellectual thought WITHOUT the emotions. and no one asks any questions pertaining to actual philosophy and the ones that do get back opinionated foundationless answers who misunderstand philosophy. would you agree?

I read the book "A Million Little Pieces" and LOVED it, because that's the sort of material I like reading about.

It's about an ex-drug addict and his "adventures" during his 6 weeks of rehab.

It sounds weird, but I basically like messed up books.

Any suggestion as to what else I should check out?

Obviously, not all characters are lovable. But the protagonist usually is, which is often what makes readers want to finish a novel. What strategies do author's use to make their audiences love their characters?

I used to watch an American show called "Family Feud" & the host Richard Dawson used to kiss all the female contestants on the show, like it was a habit & none of the women seemed to mind it as well (except maybe for a very conservative or religious few).

But if TODAY, a TV host went about kissing his female contestants, immediately he would be fired from the spot & derided by the media.

Why is this so? What happened to America? Why are we going back into the old times again?

I am looking for a couple of books by Êsa Abd Allah Muhammad al-Mahdi, but so far have been turning up dry. I could be spelling the name incorrectly; but those who know h.i.m. will know whom I seek.

Anyone know?

I just read this poem today and I don't really understand it. Especially when he says "There is an empty place in my metaphysical shape that no one can reach: a cloister of silence that spoke with the fire of its voice muffled". What are the empty place, metaphysical shape, a cloister of silence represent for? and why is poet saying that the cloister of silence that spoke with the fires of its voice muffled?
